Pinterest is pinning things I like....
Is this the same for you? I've gotten a few cute animal videos and a couple of recipes that are right up my alley.

Lately mine has been pinning the exact pins I have already just pinned. I know they take what you pin and try to find something similar.

They do pretty good most of the time!

Sometimes it's like they looked right into my soul.
Other times it's all stuff I hate.
They usually do pretty well, though.

I have pretty good luck with it ... I don't complain because it opens up a whole new world of pins

They have pinned at least 100 or more "picked for you" this holiday weekend. And most of them are for things I've never looked at. I'm almost ready to delete my account.

Nooooo--Pinterest won't keep showing me Halloween pins! We had a party and I pinned a ton of Halloween stuff. Apparently Pinterest thinks I'm still in Halloween mode.

The one thing I have found a little helpful is to go to settings and clear the cache and browsing settings. That slows down all the repetitive pins showing up again and again.

I've had a problem with Pinterest showing me things I really don't want to see right now...when I was pregnant, I had a lot of the usual boards - nurseries, baby clothes etc. After my son was stillborn, I deleted the boards (it hurt too much seeing it all each time I logged in), cleared the caches etc but it took months for Pinterest to get the hint. I even changed laptops at one point (not for this reason!) but I was still being bombarded with baby stuff.

I've pretty much quit going to Pinterest because I was so tired of the picked for you pins and the promoted pins. My feed was FULL of things I wasn't interested in and then when I would browse around, it was filled with advertisements that I had seen 1000 times. A fellow poster posted this link: Remove Picked for You Pins and I was excited to use it. Now my feed if full of blank spaces where the picked for you pins and promoted pins once were. I'm not complaining, because I was glad to not have to continuously see them but it really brought home to me just how many pins I hadn't pinned myself, people I follow hadn't pinned and that were advertisements. It was staggering, actually. It makes me sad because I used to love to waste time on the site and now I hardly go there unless I'm looking for a specific recipe I'd pinned. I know... total first world problem!

That is definitely something they should take into consideration.

I hate it. And they lie, because when I click to hide the pins on the app and choose the "I don't want pins picked for me based on my recent activity", it clearly says, "Ok, no more pins based on your recent activity" - and then there they are again a few hours later. UGH!
I carefully pick and choose who I want to see pins from and what boards I want to see and I don't like having pins thrown at me that I didn't specifically ask to see. I may pin one delicious, not-good-for-me recipe that I want to make for a special occasion and then BAM! I end up with pages and pages of recipes I can't make on a regular basis and really don't want to see when I'm watching what I'm eating.
Having said all of that, I know it's a free service and unless I'm willing to walk away from it completely, it does me no good to complain. So there you have it. I either have to put up with them or stop using pinterest. It hasn't gotten so bad that I've chosen to walk away... yet.

Your experience is a much more serious example of why these "picked for you" pins should just be done away with. Jen

I'm so very sorry. Your experience is a much more serious example of why these "picked for you" pins should just be done away with. I must admit, it's not just limited to Pinterest. Facebook is showing advertisements for maternity clothes... Thanks everyone for the kind words.
