I've had several packages that have been marked delivered in the past week and I haven't received them. They are coming from different places (Amazon, Kohl's, Toys R Us) and are being delivered by different companies (FedEx, UPS, USPS). Today it was my Kohl's blankets and I'm pissed. I have a good amount being delivered tomorrow and I'm afraid someone is going to take them as well. DH and I are out of the house from 5:45 am - 6:00 pm. What would you do?
Update .. upon further investigation of my set deliveries. 5 were supposed to be here today. 0 were actually here.

Have them delivered to a family member locally (if possible).
Set up a camera to out the thief. And then press charges on their ass.

there have been warnings here of thieves following delivery trucks and taking packages from unattended porches. if there is no way to surveil (and even then, how do you find out who the person IS?) or hide your packages, I would have them delivered somewhere other than your house.

Sorry about your packages. That totally sucks.
For the ones coming tomorrow you could try to contact the carrier and ask to hold them for pickup. But it's kind of late for that.
Maybe you could leave a note on your door for the carrier stating packages have gone missing and you will pick up at their facility. From now on though, I'd have deliveries to your office or a trusted friend.

We had a printer delivered to our front door on Wednesday. No attempt to even disguise it or put it slightly out of sight. Thankfully it was there when we got home.
I would have it delivered to your work. I used to do that all of the time. Not because of anything being stolen but because my boys were big snoops and would go to the websites on the packages and see what could be in the package.

I have everything delivered to my office. Could you ask your neighbors to keep an eye out for delivery trucks and rescue your packages until you get home>

My problem now is that they're all in route,by different carriers, and could be here tomorrow and/or Wednesday. I think I would start by reporting your previously missing packages to their respective carriers. Maybe that action will red flag your address in their system so that your packages cannot be left without you being there. I had a long time where UPS would not leave packages at my address because so many packages had gone missing from this street/neighborhood. I never really complained about that, I would much rather put in a little bit of extra effort to get my packages then to have them be stolen. In the future, I would have my packages shipped elsewhere if you're not going to be home for delivery.

In the past I've left a note on my door asking the driver to deliver to a neighbor who is home during the day, and who I have ok'ed it with.

Call the carriers and let them know you are having this issue and ask them to contact the drivers who have your packages and have them return them to the hub nearest your home. Make sure you call early in the morning. I would also report the thefts to the retailers, the carriers and your local police department. I have one package that says it was delivered today, but I don't have it. DS was home for the UPS delivery, but this item came USPS, which I dislike. If my neighbor who often gets my mail doesn't bring it by by the time I get home from work, I will report it to Amazon and they will replace it.

I'd pay a friend or neighbor to spend the day at my home. I'd stock the fridge with food for them. In addition I'd report the missing packages and set up a home security system to video tape.

In the meantime I would download some under CCTV surveillance posters and put it in your front window nearest the door sort of thing to see if that would be enough to make them stop.

I am grateful that it was a ten dollar item and not the four kindle fires that were delivered by UPS later in the day.

I would leave a note on my door with instructions for all the delivery services, telling them what I wanted done - delivered to a neighbor, held at their facility for pickup or something else.

I had a set of All Clad get stolen from my porch a few years ago. My DH bought it for me for Christmas. He was out of town and when he returned asked where the box was. My face --> Either UPS or William-Sonoma was on the hook for the replacement. UPS delivered it to my front porch at 10:30am and didn't notice the car following them all over the neighborhood picking up the delivered packages.

I'll never forget the video of a woman stealing packages from someone's porch, then going back to steal the wreath from their front door! I hope you're able to get it sorted out.

Is this something you can call the non-emergency police number about?

Is this something you can call the non-emergency police number about? I'm pretty sure I can. My police department has a system online where you can report the theft ... I did. I'm so mad as it's about $300 worth of stuff already taken. I tried to put a hold on all packages/mail coming from the USPS until Saturday as well as ones I could coming from UPS. We'll see what happens.

When I worked for UPS, one of my duties was to investigate missing package claims. Things may have changed since then, but at that time the policy was that the receiver couldn't file a claim, it had to be done by the shipper (since the shipper is technically UPS' customer). If someone had a missing pkg, they were advised to contact the shipper, the shipper would file a claim, claim would come to us and we would begin an investigation. Many shippers will go ahead and replace the product prior to the claim resolution.
If we had an address where a claim was not able to be resolved, that address would be signature-required for future deliveries.
I would absolutely contact your shippers and get the claim process going, also see if you can file a police report, and make an attempt to contact the carriers bringing future pkgs. If you can get past the call centers to the local delivery center, they will likely be more than happy to work with you to prevent additional thefts. It may cause delivery to be delayed a day or two though.
I also like the idea of a video camera.

I'd think about staying home and being there to get them...I hope you also contacted whoever you bought them from along with UPS and USPS.

I would leave a note on my door with instructions for all the delivery services, telling them what I wanted done - delivered to a neighbor, held at their facility for pickup or something else. The problem with this is that so many delivery people just fling the package up on the porch. I've watched them do that at my house because if I'm home I'm alerted by my dog to the fact that the UPS driver is on the street. The dog knows the sound of that truck and that it means "ALERT! INTRUDER ON THE STREET!" lolol... Anyway, the driver gets out, runs up to the bottom of the steps and tosses the package up the steps, runs back to his truck and he's off. He never gets close enough to the door to see any note I might leave. In this case I'd ask a neighbor if he/she could be on the lookout for the deliveries that are coming soon. Then I'd have future deliveries made to a friend who was home or to work.

How frustrating! I hope you are able to get replacements for all your missing packages. I've never been brave enough to have stuff delivered to my house when I'm not there. I have everything shipped to my work address.

I don't see how the shipper can be held responsible if the Package tracking says delivered.

I've had it happen to my family as well. My DH even came home and found the guy taking it. Followed him reporting to the police the location. He got away, but luckily dropped the package.
We have gotten a post office box for deliveries and for important mail. This type of theft is crazy and seems like no one is doing anything about it.
