Wanted to do the saran wrap ball game with my teen daughters and her friends for their holiday party. (and maybe with extended family on Christmas) I need some more instructions. I know you et something with a bell for the middle and start wrapping saran wrap or tape around and then keep adding toys or candy or trinkets as you go. What is best to use saran wrap or tape or combination of both? If saran wrap do you use the press and seal? I've also seen mention of bits of wrapping paper or plastic bags...do you use those? Do you put a bigger prize in the middle?
What are some good prizes?
For those who don't know the game. One person starts trying to unwrap the ball to get the prizes and the person next to them rolls a pair of dice trying to get doubles and then it is their turn and so on until the ball is unwrapped.
Thanks!

I just used regular Saran wrap and tape. If I did it again I would use shorter pieces of Saran wrap and more tape. Whenever someone got to a long piece of Saran wrap it was too easy.
I just used candy and a few dollar coins for the prizes. We played it with my family - aged 3 to 82. The adults and older kids had to wear gloves while unwrapping.
It was a fun game.

For me, Saran Wrap is the devil. We're using shrink wrap (like moving companies use) because we have it. It sticks more like the SW Press 'N Seal, but doesn't attack me when I cut it off.
For the inside, we have jingle bells and a gift card, and we're just wrapping gobs of candy around the outside. But our age-range for this is 5-13.
We'll also make the older ones wear gloves to slow them down a bit.

We did this one year for the end of the year party for Youth Group. It was VERY fun and took them almost an hour. But it was a lot of middle school boys showing off for the girls and they were just picking at the tape mid length, not trying to get an end up and pull from there. So if brains aren't rotted by hormones, it may go quicker! I used fun sized candies and a big bag of candy in the middle of the ball. I picked a bag of Skittles or Starburst or something like that so that it was nut friendly and it would be easy for the kids to share if the winner so desired. I DO NOT recommend putting fun sized bags of Skittles or M&Ms in with the tape and plastic wrap--the bags ripped open and the little pieces would go flying everywhere. Then the kids ate them off the church basement floor. If you have that kind of candy, wrap the candy in plastic wrap, then into the ball. Or put it into a zip bag and then add to the ball. Like KCKCKC said, short pieces of tape and plastic wrap. So that a smart kid can't just unwrap a whole layer at a time. I used dice and a timer. The kids had to roll doubles and then had 30 seconds to unwrap what they could. They started out with gloves, but I had them take off the gloves, as they weren't getting anything. Then I had to increase the time to 60 seconds. But really, this group wasn't thinking at all. My DS (who is now an engineering major in college) knew what to do, but wouldn't have enough time to get a layer undone. And then the next kid would start in the middle of the tape and they would start all over. I'd start off with with gloves and a short amount of time and adjust accordingly. Would I do it again? Yes! In spite of only getting one piece or so each time, they had a blast. And they were sharing what candy they could peel off. When they finally calmed down and worked together, it went much faster. Warning-it takes a TON of tape. I used duct tape and packing tape. Both worked well--the packing tape was harder to pick at to get a corner to lift it up, but the duct tape was stickier. Criss cross the tape a lot and just add layers. My ball was about the size of a basketball when I was done taping.

LOL I first heard about something similar when DD was going through her Peppa Pig phase last summer and would watch it ENDLESSLY. Ugh. Anyway, in one of the episodes the kids are at a birthday party and they play a game called Pass the Parcel. In the middle of the thing is a bigger prize or gift, and each subsequent layer is wrapped with wrapping paper and has a party favor tucked into that layer. They played music like musical chairs and whoever had the parcel when the music stopped would get to unwrap the next layer and would be out, and the game would continue with the remaining players until the last gift inside was unwrapped. So maybe if you Google "pass the parcel", you might get more ideas.
