I was going to finally sign up for Target's red card, the one that can be linked to a checking account, but when reading the terms, I got a little nervous about how much information they share with affiliates. Can someone give me an idea if you were spammed to death or if you even noticed any changes after signing up for this card?

I've had one for several years.
It's been amazing!
I love the discounts, coupons, and free shipping.
I've never had any problems.

I have one and I love it. Honestly, I get so much spam already, I wouldn't know if it was from Target.
I have a separate email for that kind of stuff though.

Very happy to have ours. The one thing I did not like (past tense) is that it used to take forever for it to come out of the bank. It is much faster now.

The one thing I did not like (past tense) is that it used to take forever for it to come out of the bank. This is what caused me to cut mine up. I hated that it took 3-5 DAYS to come out. The discount just wasn't worth the hassle. Glad they got it fixed. When I did have it, I didn't notice an increase in spam.

I have had one for years and I haven't noticed any increase in spam.
I didn't like the idea of using it with my main checking account so I opened up a separate checking account that I only keep a few hundred dollars in and the only thing I use that account for is the Target debit card. I was concerned about thieves getting into my main checking account (and this was before the Target hack).

Thanks for the replies, ladies. I've waited this long because I thought it was just a credit card they offered, then when I saw I could link my checking to one I was pretty excited. When I read the small print it stated that they would have permission to share my social security number (for legal reasons) along with everything they will ever learn about me, that just made me a bit nervous. Target is 5 minutes from my house so I'm there often enough that the local store knows me too well already...

Love mine! Funds come out of my account the next day. Small delay.

I still have a 3-4 day delay in the funds coming out of my account.
It messed me up when I first got the card (assuming funds had already come out of my account when they hadn't) - so be aware of that, OP.

Yes, both target and one of the local gas stations used to drive me nuts with that, but both are better now. Target still has a few days delay, but not nearly as bad as it used to be.

I have had one for several years, no problem with spamming. I love it for the discount & on black Friday you can jump the checkout line. Instead of standing in line that snaked throughout the whole store for checkout, we walked into the red card lane and only had 4 people ahead of us.

I'm glad that everyone has had good results. But to me the discounts are not worth the possible risk. I don't have any store cards. I prefer to use my regular bank issued credit card for everything. And yes my CC was hacked twice in last year (once around the Target debacle time-frame and once over the summer), but at least with a credit card dispute I still have my bank account balance while my card is on hold.

I have one and I don't notice a ton of junk mail. I elected for the debit card because God knows I probably wouldn't be the most responsible with a Target credit card!

It works! If you shop at Target often, you need it as its an automatic 5% savings.

But with the DEBIT card, You have a PIN #. When target was hacked, it affected CC #'s but could not access a debit card with a pin # being put in. That hack that happened last year, There were LOTS of people in my area that had issues after that. I did not. And I think it was because of the PIN # thing.

I'd rather pay extra and have peace of mind that my bank account is only connected to my mortgage payment and my (same) bank issued credit card. And like I said earlier I'm glad you've had good results. It's just not my thing. ETA: And I only use my debit card at the ATM and Costco, all other purchases are made with my CC. I do have a Chase Liquid card that use for sketchy in person and online purchases. I only keep less than $200 on it.

Like m said, it doesn't come out of your account immediately, so you need to be aware of that. And 5% off is a good thing. It's like paying no sales tax.

Yes and love it. Never noticed any issues. Love the free online shipping and 5% is 5%. Definitely worth having.

I have one and really like it for the 5% savings. And the free shipping, though I've only used that on a few occasions. I now use Cartwheel as well, and find it a pretty easy way to save a bit more (just scan the items I put in my cart to see if there's extra savings)
