I purchased a mixed bag of jewelry from a thrift store a while ago and among the junk jewelry was a baggie of 4 brass pins and two ribbon bars from what I believe was an Army uniform. Any ideas what to do with it? I feel guilty just throwing it away (kind of like throwing away a flag), but other than donating it to Goodwill, I haven't a clue what to do with it. All my family members who served have passed away so I don't know who else to ask, and Peas know everything...

If you don't have any connection to them and can't return them to the owner/family (and obviously you can't), then don't feel guilty about trashing them. They are not irreplaceable.

Use them in art assemblages...or give them to someone who will.

I just wanted to make sure. If anyone wants them for artwork, just let me know - I'd be happy to send them out.

The ribbon bars (aka racks) are relatively cheap and easily replaceable through any military clothing store. The ribbons do show wear/fade after time on a uniform and have to be replaced periodically. We always just tossed the ex's when his were looking "tired" I suspect he may have keep the last rack with ribbons he was wearing on his uniform when he retired. Not sure what the brass pins are but if they are really small and would fit in the middle of a ribbon on the bar they also are easily replaceable.

I put mine in my scrapbook, but some people do collect militaria so you could donate back to a thrift shop. As for value there really isn't any unless it's like a purple heart, medal of honor or something like that.
If you do still scrapbook you could use them as general militaria on a page about someone who served.

Two say U.S., one is a textured diamond, and one has an eagle over a circle with crossed sword and a key maybe.

If they are medals you might find them here: www.usamilitarymedals.com/collections/military-medals. There are also things called "challenge coins" which has the emblem of a unit on them and are given as a type of low level award for a job well done (but highly prized by the recipient) www.usamilitarymedals.com/collections/challenge-coins/army

The brass button things are collar devices. They are worn on the collar points. The US one is Army I think and the other signifies MOS (military specialty) or the job they performed. I am a Navy vet and am not sure what job they signify.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I guess I'll put them in the Goodwill bag in hopes some crafty person can use them.

If it bothers you to throw them in the trash, you could always drop them off at your local VFW. Someone there might have a use for them? My husband made a shadow box with his pins and medals.
