waiting for their studio time.
They are definitely teenagers. Two loveseats, and five people (including me).
All four of them crowded onto one loveseat- the only girl is balancing across the boys' laps. None are talking, they are all on their phones.
I'm gonna try to get a picture. The one guy looks like Justin Beiber, another Prince Harry. The third guy is Drake in his Degrassi days and the girl is wearing more scarves than the other three have in clothes.

Ok, they are texting each other. There are moments of intense quiet typing and then they all grin at the same time. I think they might be commenting on me. I'm 99% sure I don't smell or are otherwise notable, but Prince Harry blushed when I happened to look over.

PopShop. I'd type out a long description but instead I'll just cut and paste from their website. "PopShop, located in Morgantown, WV, is a non profit music academy founded with the belief that popular music styles (rock, pop, country, punk, r&b, etc.) can be a vehicle to teach traditional musical concepts. PopShop is dedicated to providing a quality music education while working to help nurture artistic and personal growth in students of all ages. While music education is at the center of PopShop's mission, classes are designed for members to enjoy the learning experience! Students collaborate in order to choose the songs, and work to assemble a set of music to be presented at public concert events. Throughout the PopShop session, band members take to the stage for live performances to showcase each student's talent and hard work. Live performances are used to help highlight other charitable causes in our community and raise funds for these same organizations. PopShop teaches that art is not only important for personal expression, but that it can be used to help others in need." There are 21 different bands currently with at least 3 people per band, ages 8 to 50-something.

You totally caught my attention with the PopShop reference! My son did several semesters and a couple summer programs at PopShop. He's in college now but has great memories of it. Chris is wonderful with the kids! When we started, I think it was the second year and it was still at the downtown location. Winter concert should be coming up soon, right?

Do you live around here? What's your son's name because I have to tell Chris?! They started doing shorter sessions with hour and a half rehearsals, so what used to be the mid-session concert at Black Bear is now at 123. And, yes, the Winter show is the 19th and 20th. I think there are 22 or 23 bands now.

Wow it has really grown! When Andrew started there were just a handful of groups. I still follow them on FB. His friend, Corinne got him involved. At that time they had a homeschool group through the day and that was when we started. By the next year all the classes were after school. It was a great experience for Andrew. He really found a love for performing. He has since gotten interested in musical theatre and is still doing that in college (even though it isn't his major). Please tell Chris hello from us! I'm Christie BTW.

Very cool! We may have crossed paths at some point in the past. How long has your son been involved with the program?
