1. Who was the brilliant person that scheduled the Winter Concert at the same time as a basketball game (same end of building too!)?
2. Why bother sending home a dress code for the concert (black pants, white dress shirt, red tie) if you are going to say khakis/polo shirt/bow tie or suspenders the day before the concert?
3. Does anyone else think a roofie is "what's in this drink?" and wtf are 8th graders singing it? The 2015 version of the song should end right after she sings "I really must go" with "sure, sweetie, want me to drive you?"
4. Is my Dh gonna kill me because I spent $250 on a Christmas gift for him? It's an hour "discovery flight" (30 minutes poking around a Cessna and 30 minute beginner lesson). I originally thought it was $190 for the hour but I was wrong. I'd not have done it but he's been depressed and says he doesn't enjoy anything he does and he's been talking about taking lessons for years.
5. Can I get some positive flying stories? All I'm thinking now is about the Neilsen family (nie nie dialogues).
6. Can one OD on sugar when baking? I've only taken a break from holiday baking today to come and pick up ds.
And there he is.... Ciao!

Totally agree there's "something" in that drink. Kind of creepy if you think about the words too closely. Right up there with "Every Breath You Take"

Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I sometimes post "Observations from a High School Parking Lot" on Tumblr, when waiting for my son everyday. Usually it's about the actual, often bizarre things I see in the student parking lot. I hope you find answers to your questions, and your DH like his gift .

I actually call it THE ROOFIE SONG in my head when I hear it. But I like it, a guilty pleasure. Like Eric Clapton's "Cocaine"...
Here's a flying story: My dad flies for fun. On 9/11, he was out flying with his buddy in his private plane. We kept trying to call either of them on their cells to tell them about air traffic being grounded, but both fellows were hard of hearing and didn't answer right away. We were afraid they'd get shot down! They weren't but they were held over for several days in a small, obscure Wyoming airport.

There is no way to make everyone happy, including the facility people, parents, kids and others who need the buildings. We have to put on our weekend dog retreat on Mother's Day every year for 4-H. Parents complain about the weekend every year, but we can't afford the $8000. the fairgrounds charges. So we get whatever left over weekend they will give us for free. We also have to try to schedule judgings and public presentations that people always complain about. They are either not on the right dates, not in the right places, not at the right times, not enough for them to make, etc. <sigh> I've never heard that song and sorry I only know one person with their pilots license.

My dad was Air Force and has loved small planes all his life. He took my mom and me on my first flight in a Cesna when I was six weeks old. The pictures taken that day are my cherished possessions.
All my life on and off he would fly little planes. He taught me the alpha bravo Charlie delta and all about different kinds of clouds. When I was seven he let me take the stick on a flight. That was one of the highlights of my childhood.
He hasn't been able to keep flying due to extreme cost and his health, but we still talk about planes we see, flights I take and such.
I love flying...because my dad loved it.

In your case, I totally agree with having it on Mother's Day! That's a huge hunk of change. In our case, I think it's because our town is sports crazy. And then STEM. Everything else comes after those events.
The song is "Baby It's Cold Outside". I'm jealous if you haven't heard it.

Baby it's cold outside is certainly a date rape song. Yet they keep playing it. I don't think most people have thought about the lyrics.

I think he will love it and not care about the price. I won a one-hour flight in a small aircraft earlier this year. The pilot let me fly the plane most of the trip. Best thing I ever won. Now I'm considering a pilot's license.

Now I'm considering a pilot's license. The instructor told me most people spend between $8000 and $10,000 to get their license. I'm like that is one hell of an expensive gift in the long run. I guess Dh won't be able to complain the I buy too much cross stitch stuff!

I had never really thought about the words until last year when my YDS and I discussed it. I think it's because I always associate it with the movie, Neptune's Daughter and not with date rape. It didn't seem creepy in the movie.

My DH is a commercial pilot. He also built his own airplane. It's a two seater and it's tons of fun. He's taken every family member up in it. I feel very safe in it and look forward to going up again. He flew to a place we rented over the summer. I had to drive 2 1/2 hours and was more worried about me than him. HTH
