It's Friday and that means one week until Christmas. It's a busy busy season for many people, but I hope you'll take time out to nourish yourselves both w/food and happiness.
On that note, I have no idea whatsoever, but I'm leaning twd turkey pannini. What's for dinner at your house?
Have a great Friday everyone.

I technically have something called Baked Spanakopita on my meal planner but I am not feeling like going to all the to-do to get it made, so I think I will whip out some lavasch and make thin crust pizzas.

I had a cheat day yesterday for my office holiday potluck. It was bad lol. A bunch of girls are getting together tonight for appetizers and drinks. I'm back being good today so I am taking food I know I can eat. I am taking a meat and cheese tray with dill triscuits. And I know the hostess has a veggie tray. Meat, cheese, and veggies and I am good! Maybe a jack and diet for my drink? Not my favorite but it has no sugar.

A bunch of friends are going on a river dinner cruise tonight. I think it's a prime rib menu. No cooking for me tonight, there may be adult beverages involved! Merry Christmas a bit early!

We are continuing our around the world journey with Swiss cheese fondue, with assorted dippers including; sausage, bread, broccoli, cauliflower, and chicken ravioli. Then for dessert we will have chocolate fondue with pound cake squares, strawberries and marshmallows.

I'm headed to Costco in a few minutes (like my friend scrapmaven before me) and I'll find something there to have later for dinner. Either a chicken or maybe a shrimp cocktail. That sounds really good, actually.

Now I want Swiss fondue for dinner with a shrimp cocktail! Instead, I pulled some chicken out of the freezer. I think I will make it will a dill sauce and the dreaded cream of mushroom soup. Egg noodles with it. And likely mixed veggies. Lisa

My daughter is having a sleepover with 5 girls. I am making a taco bar and they can build their own meal. At least one of the girls is gluten and dairy free.
After I cook I am going to go hide in my room for the night!

We've been spoiled the last week and a half with really warm weather, but it it's cold out again, we even got snow flurries. So, I decide I needed to make some good comfort food, chicken pot pie. Yum!

Like just PEAchy, we've had several weeks of unseasonably warm weather. Finally today it's "cold" (i.e. in the 50's) so I'm making a big pot of chili tonight. It's one of DH's favorite meals and he will work on it all weekend. I've over done it at Christmas parties this week, so I'm having some whole wheat toast and fruit tonight.

I'm working, dh is working from home but will take the kids out somewhere for lunch. Which I translate to - free pass for Mom, no cooking tonight

Bonserella...SO excited for you !!!! I know exactly how you feel !!! can NOT wait to see our families soon!!!!! After Christmas, my FUN Dad is driving back with us & will visit for a month .....I hate that he doesn't live near us, and we enjoy having him here----as I've gotten older, he is one of my best friends, plus we like the same shows! He & hubby also have a lot in common, but---hubbs doesn't watch "Downton Abbey" or some of my other shows, so it's FUN that I'll have a "TV Buddy"... .Dad & I can't WAIT for Downton on Jan. 3rd!!! we lPlus, we are SO grateful that he's happy & healthy at 84 !!! I also LOVE to cook for him---many of my Mom's yummiest dishes that he realllly enjoys & appreciates! When he flies home, I freeze some of his favorite meals that he stuffs into his suitcase! I saw a thread about this recently, where someone here said they pack a COOLER for their daughter that goes on the plane with her so she can enjoy Mom's cooking back at college I LOVE that idea & SO thankful I read it, because I might do this for my Dad instead !!!! We always knew the risk of the frozen food going bad if his flights were delayed/ cancelled (luckily, it's never happened)----but if I send him with a cooler----no worries!!!!!

It's my favorite night of the week - pizza night! I really wanted to make it homemade, but we went to the movies this afternoon, and I didn't have time to make the dough and let it rise. Darn! So Papa John's it is!

Meatloaf sandwich - this is the only reason we have meatloaf is to have the sandwiches a couple days later. It was delicious. DH had the extra footlong from Sonic leftover from yesterday AND a meatloaf sandwich. He's a hearty eater.

I made turkey burgers and tried a glazed pearl onion recipe from Food Network magazine for the side. Thumbs down on the onions, just not very flavorful. Then I made cookies! www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/cherry-vanilla-cream-cheese-spritz-cookies-recipeAnd those I recommend. First time successfully making spritz cookies. They had a good flavor, made a nice small batch compared to the usual spritz cookie recipe, and hey, you are eating a healthy cherry with every cookie!
