It's the weekend before Christmas and I'm staying put. Stores will be crowded chaos and home will be uncrowded chaos. We have a kitten. Thus the chaos. So, dinner will be something like Mozzarella chicken. I heard from akathy . She had another setback, but is back in rehab and looking fwd to getting home. She's very missed. What's on your menu? Have a great weekend and don't forget Santa likes balance. A little naughty w/your nice is a good combo.

I'm with you and will be avoiding stores this weekend. I am not that brave! Sorry to hear that a akathy suffered a set back, but glad to hear she's back at rehab and one step closer to being home. I'm praying that her condition continues to improve and she gets back home. SOON! As far as dinner goes, no cooking and no cleaning up for me. It's take-out night at my house. It will be whatever dh feels like getting and I am a-okay with that. ETA: A kitten in the home is not prerequisite for chaos. Just sayin'

erm. Not sure. My sister from Connecticut arrived in town last night but I made her spend the night at our brother's house because I refused to brave the rush-hour traffic on the Friday before Christmas. In the rain. Anyway, she'll be out here this afternoon to stay with me. She is sort of halfway Kosher and my fridge is full of pork and shrimp. But she loves Mexican (cuz try getting decent Mexican food in New England) so I guess we'll go out. akathy ... I hope you feel better soon. So sorry you can't be at home right now.

Sorry to hear Kathy had a setback, I hope she's on the road to recovery and back with us soon.
It's just me and the girl tonight. Both my boys are headed in different directions to see Star Wars with friends and DH is working. We are going to have some girl time and go out to dinner, I'm thinking Olive Garden. Then, we are going to brave the stores and do a little shopping. Give me strength, lol.

I have no idea-I'm hoping to get inspiration from this thread. DH went pheasant hunting yesterday and brought home some as well as kroker (?-no idea if that is the correct spelling or what kind of bird that is). He may cook that tonight. Otherwise, we may be ordering sushi.
Hope Kathy is well and everyone enjoys this last weekend before Christmas.

We just got a homemade loaf of cinnamon raisin bread from a friend, so I'm thinking I'll make it into eggnog French toast. I've got some ham, bacon and eggs to go along with it - looks like breakfast for dinner.

Oh no, so sorry to hear about Kathy. We're all thinking about you and missing you!
Saturday night means eating out night. This morning I did the grocery shopping, holy cow was it crazy. You'd think no-one had any food in their homes. People were going crazy.
Today is cold, wet, dreary, so I'm hoping we go for Vietnamese food. It's big bowl of pho weather. If the rain holds off tonight I might also suggest we drive around the neighborhoods known for their Christmas lights.

I made shredded brussel sprouts with a crisp bacon garnish. Basically, fry a couple slices of bacon until crisp and set the bacon aside. Slice brussel sprouts thinly (I use a mandolin slicer) and stir fry the sprouts in the bacon fat until slightly wilted and warmed through. Put on plate, crumble bacon on top. An addition of shave parmesan is also nice.

We went to Ground Pat'i for lunch - of course, we had the Fried Veggies (OMG). DH had hamburger steak with French fries and a salad. I had the potato skins. We had been to Academy for DH a pair of Wranglers and a pair of house shoes. It was crazy but we got in and out in 30 minutes and also had a good parking spot.

In keeping with tonight's theme, we picked up the 2 kittens we adopted today. We actually picked them out last Sunday, but had to wait for their spay surgeries before we could take them home. So dinner today was some nice easy sloppy joes, followed by lots of playing with kittens.

I'm sorry to hear she is back in rehab because I know that means it isn't home. akathy, was put on TPN (iv feeding through a port in the chest) and that comes w/a huge risk of infection and problems. So, after a punishing week or so in the hospital akathy was sent to rehab. Then she had a couple setbacks and was re-admitted to the hospital. Now she's back in rehab and hopefully, closer to coming home. No more yo-yo. Just come back to us akathy.

I had the Golden Arches tonight for dinner. DS and I ventured out today (against my better judgment) and it took WAY longer than I thought. By the time we got home, it was past his bedtime so I figured I'd stop and grab a sandwich (ok..and fries) on the way home.

14yo DD made dinner tonight. Alfredo from scratch with either chicken or shrimp, per personal taste. I had mine with gluten free pasta.

DH's company Christmas party was this afternoon. They do a meat heavy, tailgate style party so he had to be there by 4 am to get the lamb started (whole lamb on a spit) and I joined him a few hours later. After nibbling all afternoon, dinner will be a glass or two of wine with crackers & cheese if I get hungry later.

Update, we ended up going out for breakfast at 2:00 pm because my brother never fed my sister breakfast and that was what she wanted. He wanted Vietnamese food (as did I) but that was too weird for my sister, and I think my brother was really good and sick of her by then. So he and his wife went to the Vietnamese place, and I picked up my sister and took her to breakfast. And it was such a big meal that we brought half home and just now polished it off for dinner, along with sharing a baked sweet potato and some incredibly boring reheated veggies. I just thought you all might like to hear about how the annoyingness runs deep in my family.
