Surfing the web this morning while on hold, I found this review of HL:
Customer will not shop at HL ever again because the store (in Arizona) does not sell water or any cold drinks!!!
Hello- it's a craft store!! It is very easy to ruin products in a craft store with food or liquids.
What funny reviews have you read lately?

My husband works with a gay woman who won't buy Chik-Fil-A but if someone else buys she'll gobble it up. He makes fun of her when he brings her CFA. She just smiles and eats her crack-laced chicken...

My husband works with a gay woman who won't buy Chik-Fil-A but if someone else buys she'll gobble it up. He makes fun of her when he brings her CFA. She just smiles and eats her crack-laced chicken... Reminds me of a regular customer of mine at Williams-Sonoma back in the day. One day she stomped in absolutely outraged by a rumor she had heard that the founder of the company was gay. Because what do you mean I've been supporting that all these years? I just smiled and said I didn't know, because he was actually a very private man (although he never married). But I wanted to say, honey, look around - you are in San Francisco - the founder of the company is the least of your worries on this one. I didn't say it but she did declare she would never be back.

Last Fall, my husband and I decided to go to a Notre Dame football game on the spur of the moment. It's pretty hard to find a room in the South Bend area on a football weekend on the spur of the moment, but someone gave my husband the name of a budget hotel which indeed had rooms available at a decent price. He booked the hotel (a nonrefundable room) and then told me about it.
I read the trip advisor reviews and while most of them were pretty good, the words "bed bugs" popped out at me in several reviews. I called the hotel and they said they were aware of the bad reviews and they suspected it was a disgruntled former employee who was leaving the bad reviews. They assured me they sprayed regularly for bed bugs as a preventative measure and had never had a problem. They promised me I could check the room when I arrived and I could get my money back if I didn't want to stay there.
I went back and reread the bad reviews and noticed there were the same typos and grammatical mistakes in each of the bad reviews. In one of the reviews, the reviewer said "I stayed there in February and my room was infested with bed bugs. I went back in March because I had been told they had gotten rid of the bed bugs, but my room was still infested. I went back in April and had to check out because there were still bed bugs in the hotel."
The review made me laugh because who would keep checking into a hotel month after month if the room was infested w/ bed bugs!
We ended up staying at the hotel and it was clean as a whistle. I checked the mattress and all the furniture and found no evidence of bed bugs, and spoke w/ a couple of other guests who stayed there regularly and had not experienced any problems.

There was a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant where I placed a huge order for 10 people. They gave me 2 small containers of their hot sauce/chile, and wouldn't give me more, because 2 containers per customer was their policy. As much as I loved the food, I stopped going.

I used to buy my girls clothes at Zara but a few years ago I went in and they had kids clothes - black and white striped like prison clothing - with stars of David on the front. Reminded me of holocaust clothing and I was insulted. I haven't gone back.

I read an interview with the founder of Lululemon and he was asked the origin of the name. Apparently it was chosen because it is funny to hear Asian tourists and immigrants attempt to pronounce it. I think a lot of their workout clothing is cute, but I will not give them any of my money.

Not a store, but a brand. My childhood best friend's mom refused to buy Mr. Clean products because he wore an earring.

There's a gas station I used to frequent because it was convienent when going to/from work. I stopped going there because their pay-at-the-pump terminals didn't say "thank you" when you were done. Ridiculous, I know but how hard is it to program a thank you message.

i read a scathing review of a hotel that the person complained about the weather, the busy street, expensive food options in the area, that there was no pool, etc. but nothing actually about the HOTEL itself. bizarre.
disney resort reviews can be funny that way too... going on about the person who stood in front of them at the fireworks and they couldn't see anything. but the fireworks were at magic kingdom, not their resort. so why does resort get bad review???
my dad stopped going to tim hortons because it became smoke-free. then it became law that ALL restaurants had to be smoke-free. so he has decided to move past it and now he will go back to tim hortons. lol!

I googled the Zara incident and it was never sold in stores in the US and Canada. Did you actually see this paigepea or just hear about it? They pulled the clothing and apologized. It was supposed to be a striped sheriff shirt but obviously missed the mark. link

I never buy tommy hilfinger. Ever
He is from my hometown and he dissed it. He was dissing the people who helped him get started. Plus he never repaid his original investors from when he went bankrupt the first time. He is worth how many millions and could not repay his parent's friends a few thousand.

I won't shop at stores that sell incense and burn it. I know many people love it but I get wicked migraines from that smell/smoke, so I refuse to shop at stores with that in stock. I know some people think that's ridiculous, but I'm okay with it.

I refuse to shop at the local grocery store because they do not have bright lights in their store. Local or not, I don't want to shop in some poorly lit dungeon.

Back in the day, when we had an abundance of stamping and Scrapbooking stores to choose from, I stopped going to the stamp store near me because the owner brought her two large dogs to the shop with her and I'm sorry but dogs weird me out.
They made me uncomfortable. I hated it, but I just don't like dogs.

You are going to have a hard time finding gas in some states if that is your criteria for buying gas.

I have a couple of stores that I don't go to anymore and they are for stupid reasons but still...
One is a local shoe store - they have a few locations around town. They are kind of a Bohemian kind of store. One day while in there, one of the girls working there was on the phone having a fight with her boyfriend (it was obvious) - I wanted to look at some earrings in the case so I waved my hand so that when she was available, I wanted to see them. She was still fussing with her boyfriend - fine, I wasn't in a hurry so I waited.
About 5 minutes later, she got of the phone and came over to me and YELLED at me saying "Don't you ever flag me down like I am a 2-bit whore or something - you need to treat me with respect, just because I'm a lowly shoe girl, doesn't make you better than me" - seriously I was looking around because I thought she was talking to someone else. I had only waved once, smiled at her and waited patiently.
I yelled right back - "Look, I'm sorry you and your boyfriend are fighting, but I did not 'flag you down' and I stood here waiting quietly and patiently but I tell you what, you are not going to talk to me like that and you don't have to worry about my business anymore because I am leaving and never coming back" ..... and I never have - to any of their stores.
I know it is a stupid reason not to go back because their sales girl was having a hard day and taking it out on me, but I don't want to patronize a store that would hire and keep on staff someone like that. (The manager was there too and never said a word the whole time)
The other place is a local donut shop. They are gourmet type donuts. I ordered 2 dozen of various kinds and the total cost was just a little of $60 (yes, ridiculous but it was for a special work function). As I was paying, I saw a yummy looking donut (new flavor) and asked if they could add one of those to the order. NOPE, they said they had a 2 dozen limit (no signs were posted). I said - "You mean to tell that I am spending $60 on donuts and you won't sell me one more?" No, (and they were not nice about it - there were no other customers in the store). I said "ok, that is fine - I guess we will enjoy these because it is the last time I will be buying any from you" - and he said "fine with me". Man! I was steamed - so I never went back there.

And it was a time when many still cared about "archival".
