This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH OF YOU.
I got up this morning and thought I'd scrap a while and then post the thread. Time got away from me but I did get 2 layouts finished. I'll scan them and post when I can find my scanner under the clutter. Can you guess that one of my New Year's Goals is to get my scraproom organized and keep it cleaner. My big problem is that if the table is clear, I can't make myself do the things I need to do because the empty table is calling to me!
I hope you are all have a relaxing day. I plan to take it easy today. I have a lot of things to do tomorrow, so today is going to be my "play day".

I am a very Pokey scrapper. It takes me years to complete a page. I think I may just have to try this challenge. :-)

Happy New Year to you all!!!! Last night we went to wave hello and goodbye to our Downey float that appeared in the Rose Parade today. It was dark and didn't get a great look as it rolled through the streets but it was fun seeing it anyways. It will be back in town this weekend and I plan to get a closer look. I still have to watch the parade on tv today but with all the football, I hope to catch it later. I did get some scrapping done and have more to do. Maybe I will get some done this weekend. Nylene- Thanks for the new thread! You are up and going. That is so good. Cindy- Wow some of these games have been such blow outs. I hope the BCS game is better. Congrats on the win for OHIO. Dreamsofnyssa- Welcome! Glad to see ya here. I am Kelly, married and live in California. I love scrapping, card making and lots of other arts and crafts. Feel free to share your work whenever.

Good Saturday morning Pokeys So sorry I have you let down with my quote/photo/project for the day these past two days. It is Holiday Home tear down time and I have been working from 4am-4pm non stop for the past two days trying to get everything put up. Almost there, I should be done today with one more all day push. That really isn't a good excuse to ignore my friends here at PokeyPeas, and I apologize. Today I am sharing a photo which will become a scrapbook page for my year long project which consists of celebrating those wacky National day of..., On this day in History, or traditions of some sort. I know there is a tradition of eating Black Eyed Peas on New Years Day. I have never done this myself, but I decided to do that this year. Since last year when hubby and I went on a healthy eating plan and we lost a lot of weight, he has become the chief of the family. I picked out the recipe a Cajun Black Eyed Pea. Work had given us a ham, so we cooked that as well. That was our last "splurge" meal for the season and we have got to get back on the healthy eating (boy do we feel better when we eat healthy). Anyway here is the photo for January 1, 2016. 2016 - 1 BLACK EYED PEAS-1 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr nylene - Thank you for getting us started with the new Thread. Seems like you are feeling better - I sure hope so. scrapincin - Good luck on your CLEANSE, sounds like a wonderful idea. We had such great success in 2015 with our diet CLEANSE, it sure made us feel GREAT! kellyr21 - Oh how fun. I miss being in SO CAL. If you get to see the Downey float again you should get a photo of it. I didn't get to watch the parade due to Holiday Home teardown Glad you got to get some scrapping in, bet that made you feel good, am anxious to see some of your completed projects. Dreamsofnyssa - Welcome - we just love to have people join us here at PokeyPeas. Hopefully we can be a bit of inspiration to you and maybe you can get a couple of pages completed this month, what a way to start out your scrappy year. If we can help you any here, I am sure any one of us would be glad to help you out. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone - Today is National Science Fiction Day and they are playing a Twilight Zone Marathon on SciFy channel, that I have had on all during Holiday Home tear down. That has always been my January 1 tradition so I will be making a Twilight Zone page for my year long project album.

I found a quote for today on a layout a friend posted on FB I want to share with you-I am going to scrap a page with it but think it is a great one for the beginning of the new year.
Today I close the door to the past, Open the door to the future, Take a deep breath, Step on through and Start a new chapter of my life!
I have restarted Weight Watchers and added some exercise back into my daily routine-since I am feeling better I need to be taking better care of myself!

Oh, scrapincin, and maribeth, you make me feel guilty. I lost 10 lbs while I was sick so thought I could eat anything I wanted through Christmas. Oops! How I hate to get back on the diet, even though it is good food and I do well on it. I think I'll wait until I take down the tree. Last year I took everything down on Jan 31. I just couldn't stand to have it still up in Feb. I love it so much, and didn't get to enjoy it much this year, so it's staying up for at least another week. Last year DH truly wanted me to change the ornaments to hearts and leave it thru Valentine's Day. I just couldn't do it...I was afraid it would stay up all year decorated for the monthly holidays! maribeth, I had never heard of black-eyed peas for New Year's day until we traveled to Texas for a convention. We went to lunch at a quaint little place and the waiter (must have been in his 80's) asked if we would like a side of black-eyed peas. Neither of us Idahoans had ever heard of black-eyed peas. So he brought out a little dish for us to try. We loved them. Then he gave us the talk about having good luck if we eat them on Jan 1. I've never had them since, but I really did enjoy them. Cindy, that is a great quote! I love the idea of starting a new chapter of me. I just got my church assignment and I'll be teaching 9 year olds on Sunday in Primary. I only know 2 of those on my list so I will be starting a new chapter with them tomorrow morning. Then on Monday I'll be returning to school and will have a few new children. I have 3 that advanced so quickly that they have graduated out of the program and will be replaced by those reading well below grade level. I'm glad they have caught on and are reading well, but I will miss them. Kelly, I saw some of the Parade and watched for the Downey float, but I didn't see it. Steve kept calling me downstairs to see what he was making with his new Christmas lathe. He has made some beautiful pens. Very cool. I hope you get to see your float again and up close and personal. Show us what you have been doing. I still haven't scanned my pages, but I did find the scanner and did clear up stuff that got piled in here over the holidays. So maybe tomorrow or Monday I can post them. I hope you each have a wonderful day tomorrow. Our temp. is going to be in the teens again tomorrow. Brrrr! I hope your Sunday is warmer!!

Happy Saturday! We had a nice day and just relaxing now. I got my cord for my camera phone and I am so excited to be able to take better quality of pictures. My old camera was my dads and only has 2.0 megapixel thingys. So for sentimental reasons I will still use it at times but glad to have a better one to use. Well, I do have so much to share from the holidays and i'll start with this card I made for Ron's coworker.
Christmas Card by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr
I will be posting other neat things I made over the next few days.
Sounds like most of us want to eat better and exercise more this year. I hope to do more yoga. Once I start it is good but just starting sometimes feels so hard. I watch a video on Youtube and it is so relaxing just listening to the lady's voice. So I hope more yoga for me.
Nylene- Yeah, I missed seeing the float on tv too. But I will get to see it maybe tomorrow. Your dh is making pens? What kind? That does sound cool and especially sweet that he wanted you to see what he was doing. You lovebirds are adorable.
Maribeth- Oh I showed my dh your Twilight Zone page and he approves! LOL! He is a big fan too and loves that show. Yeah black eyed peas. We haven't eating them in some years but yours look yummy! Hope they bring you and your family lots of luck.

Good Sunday morning fellow Pokeys scrapincin - good luck on the weight watchers, I have to start back on my tread today as Holiday Home kept me moving for the last three days but it is now done, so back to the daily routine. nylene - it must be hard to see the children you have bonded with while helping to learn to read leave, but you know how much you have brought to their lives and given them a change for success in life, and that has got to be a rewarding feeling. Enjoy your decorations a while longer. We start in November so we have them up longer before Christmas than after. kellyr21 - LOVE LOVE LOVE your card and glad you got your camera cord. I know how disappointing it is not to have all the tools to photo your projects. I got a ShotBox for Christmas it was touted as being able to take perfect photos of 12 x 12 pages but it is not working. I have a message into the company, disappointed right now because I am still not getting a perfect square (as you can see below) Today I am posting my project that I submitted for the Red and Grey Challenge on Scrapbook.com. SB-Claire Santa 2015 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Have a wonderful day today - Any football fans? We are going to spend the last day of the holiday watching the games. (No snacking allowed for us, except for some non-buttered popcorn, that isn't as BAD a snack as most). Today is National Drinking straw Day!

Hello Pokey Peas! It is only 7 degrees today and we are expecting freezing rain through the rest of the day and night. A great day to spend in my scraproom!!! We hardly ever have freezing rain, because it turns to snow and piles up. I dread the icy sidewalks and roads. It was so much fun to go back to school this morning. I have missed the children. I don't have new ones assigned yet so today I read with children whose tutors were not there. I love watching their faces as the "light turns on" and you know they caught the lesson and can decode new words. maribeth and kellyr21 , I left love on your layout and card. Both are beautiful. Glad to see you both crafting. I finally got my pages scanned and posted. The baby page has been sitting unfinished on my table since Halloween. Now I'm back in the scrapping mode and need to order more photos. Create by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Nylene by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

Hey ladies and hope your day is going well. I guess I will start putting away some of the holiday decorations. I am like Nylene I plan to keep my tree up a little longer. It makes me happy so why not keep it up, right? LOL! Also, I just blogged one of a series of post about Christmas stuff I saw and made. This one is about the local Christmas trees I saw. (link below) Nylene and Maribeth- I am off to see your lovely pages. We are all some scrapping ladies. Glad to see you Nylene back on your feet. How was the cousin's camp? I know they had a ball.

Good Tuesday morning Pokeys
Sorry I missed yesterday - first real day back at work since December 23rd. Even though we went in a couple of days last week they were late going in days so I was in no rush to get ready. Yesterday was a real day and had to get back to my routine of getting ready by 6:30. Hubby has to drive me as I don't do snow, ice or wet roads at all, even though it is only a few blocks from my house (and we live in the country, no traffic), but I am a very nervous driver so it just makes good sense to let him drive me.
Yesterday reminded me of how little I am able to get done during the weekdays. As hard as I try after getting up at 4am, working from 6:30-4:30, walking from 5-6 on the treadmill, and then dinner, I am exhausted and I just can not get motivated to get any crafting in. It really bums me out. Any ideas of how to boost my energy?
Quote for the day:
Energy is eternal delight. Author: William Blake
I sure wish I had more of it!
Have a wonderful day Pokeys.

maribeth, if I had answer to your energy question I'd be trying it myself! Thanks for the quote and I hope as you get back into the routine, things will be easier and you can have enough energy to be creative. scrapincin, Cindy, I loved your comment about being retired and still not having enough time to do all you want to do. That's how I feel, exactly! Your weather sounds like ours. When the wind is whipping and the temp is in the single digits, I just can't make myself go out. Didn't one of the BYU coaches just go to the Cavs? I thought I heard something about that. kellyr21, I am glad you love your Christmas decorations too. I don't have many people come to my house so I don't feel the judgment of having the tree up into January. Now that I am not doing Cubs I don't have moms dropping by the pick up boys or to find out what they missed when they were absent. I hate to say it but I have coughed all night the last 2 nights and my voice is gone. I don't really feel sick but I'm worried that it's starting again. I have to be well for our trip to Hawaii in 3 weeks. UGH...I am tired of being sick!!

You are going to Hawaii? Lucky you!!!!You might need a decongestant at night sounds like you have drainage which is making you cough and probably why you are losing your voice. You can get them over the counter-one is called phenylnephrine, another is Sudafed.or you can rub Vicks on the bottoms of your feet. Becky does that with Bobby and they swear it works.

Thanks for the ideas, Cindy. Didn't I tell you we were going to Hawaii? Our kids got together and bought us the airline tickets, hotel, etc. for a trip to Hawaii. I have never really had any desire to go since I'm not a "lie on the beach" kind of girl. But Eric told us all the things they had planned for us: The Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, Dole Plantation and I started getting excited. They told us in October so we could choose the dates. I guess this was to be the plan for our 50th Anniversary, but the kids decided they needed to do it earlier...since we are aging! I'm sure we will walk our legs off but right now my feet are OK, so that won't be a problem. This was such a sweet gift to us, but I hate to have the kids spend $ on us. They all have young families. We are so blessed to have such caring grown children. We leave the last week of January.
I appreciate the health advice. I have started using the nasal spray that the ENT gave me and am back on the Claritan D every 12 hours. Isn't that similar to the Sudafed? It's Loradine + the ephedra. The ENT knew we would be flying soon and gave me an RX to use for the 2 days before we fly each way to help with the ear problems. I can't remember what it is. I will try the Vicks. I have that on hand. Thanks!
DD gave me a Costco coupon for 100 free prints, so I need to go through all my photos and order them. Yay, lots of scrapping in store!

Happy Tuesday! It is raining here and I here this is the start of El Nino. Now sure how bad that is suppose to get but I got fun crafts to work on so it's all good. Last night we did go see the Downey float. It was dark and I couldn't see I real good but I did get a good enough look and took a few pictures.
Also, today I blogged sbout some of the Christmas cards I made. I will be sharing more this week.
More Christmas Highlights
Maribeth- I hope you adjust to your "Back to work" schedule. It sounds challenging but I know you will figure it out.
Cindy- Wow, your team cleaned house. My 49rd are coach less too. So I wonder who will fill all these job openings? It was weird not having football last night but looks like there will be lots this weekend and Monday's BCS game.
Nylene- Hawaii?? How cool is that? I know you both will have a terrific time. I went once ages ago and really enjoyed myself. I can't wait to see pics and hear about your experience. So definitely take it easy so you will feel good for all that fun. Who knows maybe you will get out there on the beach and shake a little something! LOL! Oh, you asked about the green ribbon on my cards. It was some old satin ribbon I probably got from M's. Glad you like it. The whole card was made from pp, ribbon and flowers from my stash. It felt good to use some it up.

Good Thursday morning Pokeys Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday kellyr21 I did get a chance to check out your cards on your blog and leave you some love. Just was a busy morning yesterday, had to get in early before the concrete plant opened because I needed to get with software support in Ohio to be sure we were up and running by go time. Not that it really mattered, snow still on the ground means no concrete sales anyway, but you know how it goes, the boss wants it to be working just in case. This is busy time of year for me anyway, year end close, so I was busy all day. Checked the forum a bit, but didn't really have the opportunity to post. Running behind this morning already, but what the heck, I can't let my Pokey friends down two days in a row! Quote for the day: "Friends are the sunshine of life." Author: -- John Hay (1871)This quote really tells it all about how I feel when I visit the Pokey thread everyday. nylene - so jealous of your trip, but you will never guess why - I don't fly so I don't want to go to Hawaii, I am jealous because you get to PACK. My favorite thing to do (next to scrapping) is PACKING!! I love to PACK for trips!!!! I love to PACK for scrapbooking retreats!!! I love to PACK ANYTHING! I would love to be a professional PACKER! (is that why I am a Green Bay fan? ) I am a silly woman. Have a wonderful day everyone. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Pokey folk- Can I hire you to pack my stuff maribeth ? I don't travel very often, but I seem to be very disorganized about it! I had two pair of shoes I never wore in New Orleans, but forgot my toothpaste and the shrug to wear over my sleeveless dress. nylene What a lovely gift from your children-- you are clearly very loved. I've never had a hankering for Hawaii for the same beach reason, but your itinerary sound like something I'd LOVE. Have a wonderful time. kellyr21 I love your layouts and cards--I'll leave some love in the gallery when I have a few minutes free. I'm getting to the end of the second of three work projects, so my time should settle out in the next few weeks. Gosh it's been chaotic and busy around here. DH and DS went back to school and work on Monday, so the house is a little quieter. My daughter goes back to school Monday and I'm going to miss her. Especially since she's accepted the job in Atlanta, so this may be the last long Christmas vacation with the whole family for a while. It's her last term and she graduates in May. This coming up Saturday is DS's birthday, and he has his senior district band concert. He'll be there all day (8-5), so we'll probably go out to dinner at the restaurant of his choice after the concert. He already got his present -- a ticket to see Renee Fleming (the opera singer) in two weeks. I have to say I don't know too many 17-yo boys asking for opera tickets for their birthdays. Anyhow, after this weekend I should have some nice scrapping time. I finished some cards, but I sent them out before photographing them. I learned how to make rosette flowers and went a little bit crazy.

maribeth, your quote today couldn't be more perfect. Please don't think you have to check in every day. We are happy if you do, but I know I can't always do that. I got a call that my best friend's husband didn't wake up yesterday morning. This is my scrapping, Card Club organizer, friend. I have known her for over 50 years and worked for her sweet husband in college. It was just luck that we moved into the same neighborhood years ago. They recently built a new home practically in our backyard. We have joked that we needed a zipline between our homes. My heart is aching for her. She has a large family and many of them live close so she won't be so alone. The friendship quote is exactly right. We walked over last night to see her and she seems to be holding up well. So sad. maryannscraps, your son sounds like such a sophisticated young man. You are right that not many 17 year olds want to attend the opera. You have done a good job helping to introduce him to culture. Have a fun birthday with him. I hope he does well in his concert. I love rosettes, but have never put one on a card. If you make more, please post photos. I need ideas. Cindy, scrapincin, my cough is a little better and the Claritan D is keeping my sinuses clear. I'm knocking on wood that this just runs the course as a cold and it will be gone next week. I still feel OK. I hope you and Bob avoid the bugs this winter in the cold. I'm using one of your Sympathy card ideas to make a card for my friend, Deanna. She is also my Stampin Up rep. kellyr21, I am heading over to your blog to see your Christmas photos. Your layout is beautiful. I left some love in the gallery. I think you should frame that and hang it on your wall. So cute of the 2 of you. I have spent time scrapping. I think not doing even one layout or card in November and December has made me hungry to scrap, scrap, scrap. I will scan and post later. I have even cleaned up my scrap area....somewhat! LOL! Have a great day everyone.

Happy New Year to everyone! I've loved everyone's layouts or cards and hope to get some time in the gallery this weekend, as well as over to kellyr21 's blog. nylene , so very sorry about your friends loss. It will be a blessing to have you close by. Also, I'm glad the claritin is working and I hope that it clears quickly. I think a Hawaii trip sounds exciting, and I'm not a beach girl, I'm a pool deck chaise reading a book girl. Sand use to not bother me until I had kids and it just seemed impossible not to bring the beach home with them. I completely agree about loving when teaching and seeing "it click" with my own children. (I homeschool.) maryannscraps , Hope your son has a wonderful birthday. It's really great that he wanted opera tickets. My DS was complaining about the ballet, although he likes classical music, he just doesn't want to see people dance to it. scrapincin , love your word for the year. maribeth , don't be hard on yourself. Your day is completely packed. I know very few people who could do what you do and then be crafty. But I too wish I had more energy. Our homeschool co-op started Monday. I'm teaching another art journaling class with a smaller group, only 6. And I love it. And this week we started school back but it's been a slow process to ramp back up. Well, Hubs is calling for me to help him, so off I go. Hopefully, I'll be back on before too long.

Happy Thursday! Today I posted my last holiday pictures featuring layouts. I put a few on Flickr and the rest on my blog. Christmas LayoutsJoy by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Noel by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr Good to see ya Maryann and Lisa! Lisa- That sounds fun teaching a mixed media class to the kiddos. I know they will enjoy that. How is the house coming? Maribeth- Hope your week is working out, getting used to your schedule. I hope you can find some scrappin time maybe on the weekend. Take care of yourself. Nylene- You asked about the bow I made on my lo. Yes, it was made out of pp from MME. Also, I made the flowers using glittered red tulle. I twisted and rolled the tulle and went around in a circle on a piece of paper. Then, I hot glued it to the little paper to hold it all together. I hope that makes sense. Maryann- I am glad you enjoyed your family and the holidays. Have fun at your ds's bday. I think an opera sounds great. Are you going too?

Kelly, thanks for the info on that bow and tulle flower. Now that you explain it, I can see how you did the flower. I've never seen glittered tulle. Such a pretty flower it makes. I love your layouts. It makes me happy to see you being so creative and scrap, scrap, scrapping. I also have enjoyed reading your blog. Lisa, your homeschooling co-op sounds great if you are teaching art journaling. What a great experience for the children. I wish I could get into it. I think I would enjoy it. I guess I already have too many hobbies! You must be super organized to home school while you are in the process of renovating. By the way, how is that coming. Maribeth, I forgot to comment on your PACKING! Who likes to pack...I can't believe anyone does. You must be Wonder Woman. I hate packing more than anything. I always forget what I really need, and end up with more clothes than I need. Argh! Can you come help me pack for Hawaii? I even forget things when I've made a list and crossed it off! Cindy,I hope you are well. I'm trying not to share my germs through the computer! Are you getting any scrapping time? You still have the grands after school, don't you. Boy, are they growing up! I posted 2 layouts to the gallery. It feels so good to scrap. Fun in the Sun by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Cleopatra by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

Hi Peas! Sorry I have been on the quiet side for the past few days. I was a little under the weather and had the kids and just plain busy! But do not fall over I actually got a layout done! Not a card or other project a layout. I have had these pics sitting on top of my desk since Halloween. Kelly-all of your pages are beautifully done! I love all the photos of you and Ron together. You are HOT right now! You best keep scrapping! Nylene-I am so glad you are going to get away to a warm beautiful place. My Grandmother went after she retired and had the time of her life. She was not a beach girl either! By the way your pages have been lovely-so glad to see you feeling well enough to scrap. I see my cardiologist Monday. All is well as far as I know. I have not noticed myself being in a fib but once since I started this medication. Waving a big hi to everyone and I hope all is going well for everyone! BBL! I forgot to post my layout-duh: Halloween Traditions by Cindy Blair, on Flickr
