Back story: DH bought me a flat-screen 32" Vizio TV to replace our antique in the BR. I went to Comcast on the 30th to get a box to use with our main DVR. She gave me a new remote that is voice activated. It is so cool ~ I can ask for a channel, a program, anything and it will connect to the appropriate channel. I knew DH and DS would be jealous so she gave me 2 extra remotes for them. And, since my box is the newest available, she told me to bring DS's in today and swap it for one like mine. Evidently everyone figured they would be closed because we were the only customers in the place.

We have to trade for in our box too for an upgrade. I am excited about getting a new remote! I'm a dweeb! Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to see if I can trade in one of our older remotes because the lettering is worn off.

We now have extras since DS got a new one bundled with the new box and the one I got the other day for him.

I love that I can click on C to check football scores! I don't use the voice activation very often but it is pretty cool.

We installed the new box yesterday evening and when we went to bed it was like a giant night light was illuminating our bedroom. I used an eye mask but today I figured out how to dim the blue light.

I am shocked and rather impressed to see the words "Comcast" and "love" in the same sentence.

I love it as well, but the box that came with it-not so much. I'm always getting error messages and can't watch what I want.

Why don't you just go in and swap it for another box? We have 3 boxes and they were all an "upgrade" from our other boxes about 3 months ago. About 50% of the time I can't watch Good Morning America so my day starts off real cranky! Also have problems getting HGTV at night. I don't watch tv during the day so I don't know about the signal during the day. And about 1/10 of the time when I want to watch something on demand, I get an error.

Press the Xfinity button on the remote and scroll all the way to the right to * which is settings. Scroll down to the devised lighting or something like that and press okay and change it from 3 to 1.

I hate the bright lights on electronics. My dh can sleep with the lights on and regularly falls into a deep sleep while watching TV. I am a very light sleeper, and lights really bother me.
If the lights can't be dimmed or turned off, I just cover them with black electrician's tape.
I want to get rid of Direct TV. Their rates have skyrocketed, and I don't really watch TV anymore since almost everything I want to watch is available on Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.
I'm glad to hear that Comcast's customer service has improved. I wonder if it's because of the mergers.
Dh and I were kinda waiting to see how long we'd be staying at our current address before we switched. We didn't want to sign a contract since we hope to be moving to Boston in a couple of months--4-6...
When we first moved to NC, we had comcast for the first two years. Our first box was a lemon. At that time customer service was abysmal. They did switch out our box, and all our issues vanished. Dh just took our box to the local Comcast office, and they switched it right out.
