I would like to buy a new printer. I've been tempted by the Epson Picturemate PM 400 and the wide format printer but still undecided.
I have a Canon Pixma that works okay but I don't get the amazing results as most people seem to get. My pictures always come out too dark. Even if I edit them, they never reflect what I see on my computer screen.
So I'm wondering what everyone here uses and loves. Canon? Epson? HP? What would be a good investment in your opinion?

I have an Epson wide format printer. It is at least 5 years old but still works great. The ink is pricey so I only use it for photos. I also just got a Brother laser printer for using with foil. It was a gift and the toner cost $44. I also, have two cheapo printers I use for general use.
The wide format Epson has been a real gem.

I have an Epson XP700. I've had Epson before and really liked the quality of the prints (I think they're better than some of the ones I can get printed locally) and the indestructible nature of the printer. It was important to me to have the separate colour cartridges as I find I go through a lot more of certain colours and hated replacing the whole ink because only one colour had run out.
Although the official recommendation is to use Epson photo paper I've had good results with an off brand but I definitely suggest trying a few if that's the path you want to take because some of my earlier tests produced terrible results.

We just bought a Canon Pixma when it was on special at HSN a few days ago. I hope it works out, we put a lot of effort into choosing one! What I liked about it especially is that it has duplex scanning for those pesky 2-sided documents. I've been using Costco so I hope this beats Costco at convenience!

I have an Epson XP630. I love the quality of pics that I have printed. This printer does double sided as well for regular printing. No fax, but it does scan and copy. I also have the Epson Charm. I've had great results with that printer as well.

I just bought a Brother MFC-J4620DW wide-format (up to A3) to replace my Canon Pixma and I'm not thrilled with the print quality on my test run at home.

You may want to try calibrating your printer, to work with what you are seeing on your screen. There are guides out there if you google what your equipment is specifically.
I have a Canon Pixma (for about 6 years now) and I noticed a few times it seemed a little darker to me, so I always just lighten my photos up in post process more than is normal and it prints out closer to what I want.

I have a Canon Pixma that's about 6 years old and am pretty pleased with the quality of photos I print. I agree about calibrating if you notice a big difference in colour.

So I decided to splurge and bought myself the Epson Picturemate. It should be here today. I'm looking forward to comparing the picture quality to that of my Canon Pixma and Selphy!

Are you talking about for photos or for paper? I just bought a new printer. I searched and searched to find one that 1. fit on my desk easily (I have an add on shelf that it needed to fit under) and 2. that I could print on cardstock (had to have a rear flat feed).
I finally ended up with an Epson XP830 and I'm very happy with it. I just got it so I haven't tried the cardstock printing yet, but according to reports it does just fine.
I don't print photos at home. My local Sam's Club has an excellent Fugi printer that uses 6 colors of ink (I think it's 6, it's one more than most printers use) and I'd rather go there for the superior results I can get plus the wonderfully low prices.

So how do you like it?? I really wanted to buy one myself. I have always had hp printers, but lately it seems like I get 10 4x6's and I am running out of ink. This is the third one, so I am ready to move on. The 400 has definitely piqued my interest!!!

This is the third one, so I am ready to move on. The 400 has definitely piqued my interest!!! I am in love with it!! I must have printed at least 25 photos already. The quality is fantastic! It blows away the Selphy for sure. The PM-400 pictures are so much more vivid. And I have to confess, the Selphy not printing true 4x6 pictures got old fast. Now my photos fit perfectly snug in the pocket pages. In comparison with the Pixma, it's slight, but I personally think the color is much more vivid with the Picturemate. The Picturemate comes with an ink cartridge and some photo paper. I bought a box of their ink/paper pack because I read the beginner cartridge doesn't last long. So far the ink is still producing photos. I keep it in my craft room and it doesn't take up much real estate, which I love. It's super convenient and so easy to print with my computer or phone. I was hesitant to spend the money but I'm so glad that I did!

I have a Canon Pixma also. I am happy with the colors, but not with the borderless option - it's always slightly off and I end up with a sliver of white along a couple of edges.. Frustrating.
