I need to get a medical alert system for my mother. Does anyone have any experiences with them? Thanks!

My information is "interested observer" status. I have no first hand info.
SIL got one for MIL. It was never used because it was not compatible (or some reason) with the phone company she had.
DH's step mother had one that worked with her rural phone situation. She has been dead for awhile, so I don't know what system she had.

We have * just*started looking for one for my grandmother too. Most of our companies probably aren't the same as yours as I am in Canada, however Costco has a system that I have heard good things about. It's on my to do list this week!

I wonder if the local fire department would know which brands work in your area?
Step mother had one that called 2 people (that the user designated) and then called 911.

MIL has Life Alert. She's never needed to use it, but it's good to know it's there. It also has a portable unit that she can wear when she's out and about, not just in her home. I think it all ties in with her cell phone. The only problem is that she constantly forgets to wear it!

Note I am in Canada but fwiw my mother had one from about Nov 2014 until November 2015. It was the Phillips lifeline system. It worked great. She only had to use it once but the response was immediate. She wore a pendant around her neck with a big button. They tested the system once a month (on the user's birthday). It was through her phone line but didn't have t be if she only had a cell phone that would have been fine also. After she got hers two of her friends got tem to and they are happy with them. It cost about $30.00 (Can) a month. She is now in an assisted living home but I was happy she had the lifeline when she was on her own.
