I watched on our early evening news and they showed a clip of William on his first day at school and they look so similar.
He's just adorable - and how time flies!!

I thought the same thing when I was watching the program about the Prince's Trust the other night gar when Ant & Dec was watching the home movies when Prince Charles was the same age, so much alike.

I started my morning off with an adorable happy baby smile courtesy of izzyscraps and shortly thereafter the pictures of Prince George showed up on my twitter feed. I had cuteness overload this morning. I love them. I admit it. I'm a dork. ...and if you are a dork, then I am the uber-dork...I follow all the royal sites on twitter so as to not miss a single thing.

Want. The. Chubby. Cheeks. He is so adorable. But I'm curious--is it common for Brits to start preschool in the middle of the year, rather than the fall?

But I'm curious--is it common for Brits to start preschool in the middle of the year, rather than the fall? I don't know what they do in England, but in Australia the start of the year is also the start of the school year. The school year starts in Feb. and finishes in Dec. It's the Americans who start school "in the middle of the year" as far as we are concerned.

When my kids were in preschool, little ones would sometimes start any time during the school year as soon as they turned 2.9 or whatever the minimum age requirement was. OTOH, I would guess that Prince George would be welcome at any time his royal parents decided it was time for him to start. Australia starts the school year in February because it's Southern Hempishere. Northern Hemisphere generally starts in August or early September.

Isn't he the cutest? I could look at those pics all day. They seem like such a normal family too.

Just interpreting it from my own personal perspective.

Children who were too young to start the previous September often start preschool or nursery in January.

Not all pre-schools do but most of them do have a new intake at the beginning of each of the three terms of the school year. September (beginning of the school year after the summer break) January ( after the Christmas break) and April ( after the Easter break ). Not all of them take them as young as Prince George is though. Some you can only start in the term following your third birthday. Depend of each individual school as to what their admission criteria is. The Government funds free access to 15 hours per week of pre-school education for all children who will reach the age of three at the beginning of the school year in September.
