I'm just so excited for her! She's graduating from college in May with a math degree, and has been applying for jobs. She was flown to two different companies in December, and both made her offers! She debated which one and finally accepted yesterday. So starting May 31, she's a college graduate and an actuary! It's a great field to go into and she's excited to start. She's done two of the exams so far, and got a very nice starting salary and signing bonus. We're just so proud of her for how hard she's worked, and what's ahead of her in life. DH and I still look at her as the little kid who put Vaseline in her hair to be "boo-full", and had a doll named Piper that we had to kiss goodnight along with her. She also used to tell people she was Easybreezy and they thought that was her name.. but she had seen the commercial "easy breezy beautiful cover girl" and heck, that's what she was! Wow, time flies. But if she's happy, I'm happy, and I know her life will be wonderful. One down, two to go.

That's awesome!! Isn't wonderful when they finish off college with not having to worry about a job? My two oldest graduated and it took them a few months to start at full-time jobs - it was stressful. My youngest ds is graduating in May and also got two offers in the fall. I keep telling ds that a "D" doesn't equal "Done". He got all A's this last semester, so I know he won't blow it. He is a computer engineering major, with a math and computer science minor. We couldn't be prouder. He even got a signing bonus. Woo hoo!

I love to hear great success stories of chicks in math! I taught fifth grade and that is still the time when the girls seem to outshine the boys in math and science (in general). I always wonder what goes on in their heads as they get older and (sometimes) give up on math. My son's graduating class had a good number of kids going into engineering and only two of them were female.
