Despite the fact that I didn't win the Powerball, eventhough I was so close, I found the will to get up and face my $900M dollar loss. I was only 6 numbers away. Edited, because everyone voted on Sunday chicken parm, pasta in homemade(sort of) sauce and spinach. Chicken green bean casserole a'la Rachel Ray was deemed bland by the family. We determined that the chicken would transfer to a great chicken soup. What's on your menu tonight? Have a great Sunday everyone. Go team if your team is playing.

I am going to lobby for cauliflower pasta, but we shall see. Chicken green bean casserole a'la Rachel Ray was deemed bland by the family. Sad for all my Pea friends whom I won't be gifting money from the Powerball. I had the Power number so I'm keeping my $2 all to myself. I made a big pot of Vegetable Beef Soup yesterday so we'll be eating that. Soups and gumbos are always better the second day.

I spent the last couple hours meal/snack prepping for the next couple days so our dinner choices are already simmering on the stove and fresh from the oven. Either vegetable soup or spinach & red pepper quiche.

I have Southern Slow Steaks in the crockpot right now. I will make roasted carrots and either roasted or mashed potatoes with it. I think toward the end I will toss in some button mushrooms to use them up. First time making it and the gravy tasted pretty good after tweaking it just a bit. ETA: turned out great!

I'm making up for my day of not cooking yesterday and my house is smelling all kinds of awful! I have black bean and butternut chili in a crockpot, cranberry-applesauce in another, I baked some rolls and now I'm seasoning my new cast iron skillet and the smell of burning oil is filling the air. Individually, the smells wouldn't be bad, but combined, it's not good. Not good at all!! Dinner will add a new smell to the mix. We're having the Italian chicken, green beans, and potatoes recipe you see all over Pinterest, steamed carrots, rolls, fresh fruit (pineapple, melons, blueberries, and grapes), and I'm not sure about dessert. Something chocolate perhaps.

Like BarbaraUK we are having roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. I'm also doing garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and brussels sprouts. I'm cheating though, the Yorkshire pudding is frozen from the store (very tasty though) and the potatoes are from a box, lol. I'm feeling a little under the weather today and just don't have the energy to do more than that.

Well, my chicken soup from yesterday must have done the trick, because everyone is feeling better.
And though I'm usually not one to make soup two days in a row, I've got chili in the crockpot. DH told me that chili isn't soup, though. It's a category all by itself.

I made a vegetarian lasagna for later in the week. Simmered the sauce all morning.
For dinner tonight I am making a beef and vegetable soup. I will have roasted sweet potatoes and carrots on the side. Or maybe a salad. The family is having a crusty French loaf.

I'm making this rustic chicken stew that someone linked here last week. Hope it turns out well. I'm tweaking the recipe just a little because it looks kind of bland as is. Well, my chicken soup from yesterday must have done the trick, because everyone is feeling better. And though I'm usually not one to make soup two days in a row, I've got chili in the crockpot. DH told me that chili isn't soup, though. It's a category all by itself. I know chili gets lumped in with soups on menus and in cookbooks, but I think of it as more like a stew. Glad to hear your family is feeling better.

You'd better set another place at the table, grammanisi because I'm coming too! @nicksmom, I've heard the same thing about soup vs. chili! I may have called soups and stews, "chili", just to get certain members of my household to eat them.

I made so much "clean the freezer-pantry-veggie drawer" soup last night that we have some left over for tonight! And it was fantastic!

You may get the generic "flakes of corn" cereal or "wheat squares with added sugar" but you sure won't be getting Frosted Flakes by any means. Better play again next weekend.

A group of 10 of us are going to a comedy show tonight. Some in our group need a good laugh after last night, we had a tornado come through our area, there was some damage to friends' houses (lanai screens damaged, roof damage, things lost off docks, landscaping, etc) - some just north of them had it much worse. Luckily no major injuries. So... we are having prime rib!! And wine, and laughs, and wine, and laughs, and more wine!!
