Has anyone read this? I saw that Hulu is doing an 8 part mini-series based on it. That got me interested in reading it.

Fantastic book. One of his best. He's one of the best storytellers around.

Glad to see some positive reviews. I've never been a big Stephen King fan (not sure I've ever read anything by him). But this one has peaked my interest.

I haven't read the book but the series was filmed in my area last year. James Franco sitings were a daily event for a while.

It's a great book! My husband and I both read it at the same time, which was fun because we both loved it and couldn't wait for the other person to catch up so we could discuss it.

It is a fantastic book. It brings out aspects of his writing/storytelling skills that I had not seen before -- for one thing, I had no idea that he could write such a compelling love story.

I enjoyed it. A lot. It appealed to the history buff in me, and was a pretty compelling story. I think I picked it up when it was one of the Amazon daily deals, but is worth paying full price for too.

I loved it. Most people think of Stephen King for his horror, but he has written many non-horror books that are really excellent. This is definitely one of the best.
Among others that I really like are The Green Mile, The Dome, and the Dark Tower series. Just avoid Apt Pupil - literally my least favorite book ever.

It is an awesome read and if you typically think of Stephen King as a horror only writer, you will be pleasantly surprised by this. I had picked up the book on a daily deal ages ago and hadn't gotten around to reading it until my DH started it and begged me to start reading because he has to talk to someone about it lol
It's a great read and I may subscribe to Hulu just to watch the series!

It's on my to-read list. I've fallen out of reading regularly and need to get back to that, even if it's just a chapter or two a night. I've been a Stephen King fan since I was 13 (minus the few books that were post accident).

I loved the book. But then I'm a huge Stephen King fan--I love him when he does horror and I love him when he doesn't. I just think he's a fantastic writer and I've had about a 40 year love affair with him. I'm dying to see this mini-series, but don't have Hulu. Do shows that are on Hulu (like this and the Mindy Project) ever make their way to Netflix for other sources? There are so many places to watch TV now that it's getting hard to keep up with really good shows. No way am I buying yet another TV subscription. I have cable (w/no premium channels), Netflix, and Amazon Prime (which was more for the free and fast shipping) and I already feel I spend too much on this stuff, but I feel like I'm missing out on some good stuff!

I like Stephen King in general (but NOT the Dark Tower series, though I read 4 of them). I think this book is probably my favorite of his. I liked it enough to highly recommend to my dad, who isn't a big fiction reader in general, and has never read SK at all.

I'm not really a Stephen King fan, and even less of a James Franco fan - but it was filmed locally so I'll probably watch it just to catch the scenery

I cancelled Hulu because we weren't really watching it, but I might turn it on for a month to watch this. This might be good for this summer between television seasons.

I've been "encouraged" to read him by a good friend - I'm in the midst of the Dark Tower series. Picked this on up on my own, and wow. Loved it!!! completely. Will have learn more about Hulu to get to watch!

I loved it. Paid full price for the paperback version when it was first released so I could read it during a long plane ride. (I didn't want to have to wait to turn on devices during takeoff and landing.) Well worth every penny and every minute spent reading.
