Any of Bill Bryson's travel books. This was going to be my suggestion. And I love Harry Potter, but I don't consider those books "light" reading at all!! |

I'll add another vote for anything by David Sedaris!
His books are collections of essays, which is not to my usual taste, but they are fantastic reads - and she's sure to be laughing out loud... In fact, I would NOT recommend them if she's had abdominal surgery, since that can make belly-laughing painful!

Anne of Green Gables is funny and sweet, if she hasn't read that book, she really should. The Southern Sisters Mysteries by Anne George are super funny. I second The Southern Sisters mystery series. I was so sad when the author passed away. |
