I think too much in silence or when music is playing, so I listen to podcasts or audiobooks to keep my mind from wandering.

My work commute is short, usually 5-10 minutes. I enjoy silence because it may be the only silence I experience all day! For a longer commute, I dig out a favorite CD, usually REM or classic rock.

I've tried the silence, but it feels weird. I like silence at home though. I have a Bose system in my car, and I crank it so loud that the car shakes. LOVE my loud, loud music in the car!!!! Nothing like fast cars and loud music. That's me on the roads!

Nothing like fast cars and loud music. That's me on the roads! Lucky...there's no such thing as a "fast drive" for me anymore. Traffic is so congested here. What should be a 20-25 minute drive takes me 45-50 minutes, so I have a lot of time to listen to the radio. And I'm thankful I'm not in the city itself, or it would probably take well over an hour. Not a fan of east coast traffic.

I have Sirius XM and usually listen to the Broadway or Sinatra stations. My teen likes us to put on a pop station, which means I have heard a lot of Selena Gomez lately.

For daily errands, with children in the car, I leave the radio on the "safe for the whole family" station.
Two days a week, I have to make a two hour drive. I listen to podcasts on that drive.

Definitely music in the car. I was heartbroken when my favorite, local, independent radio station went off the air without warning last fall and have struggled to find a replacement.
If I'm home alone it is usually silent but sometimes I'll plug in the iPod (never the radio at home).

I loathe silence in the car! Always music or a podcast. ALWAYS.

Silence is golden. Music makes me nervous and talk radio makes me angry!

Mostly music, sometimes a talk show when I am bored with the music. I have a long commute, so I need some noise!

I'd say 98% of the time I'm listening to the radio, but every once in a while I'll turn it off.

NPR, or Xm or audiobooks. I only do silence to pray for family/friends or to count my blessings/gratitudes. I'm not a church-goer or a very religious person but sometimes I just feel a need to send up good thoughts to the powers that be for the people in my life. Enumerating the positive things in my life also seems to be re-chigger my overall outlook in a more positive way. I can only do that in silence on boring stretches of highway.
Otherwise the silence drives me crazy. I make a lot of calls from the car. It's a 2 hour stretch out to see my mom and fairly boring highway so my pals will ask me if I'm headed out to see my mom when I call them ...

Do you know what a guy with a remote watching 3 football games 2 golf games and a baseball game all at once looks like? That is me. Listen to something for 3 seconds, nope done. Onto the next. A minute there oh I am sick of that song. Onto the next. Commercial. Forget that. Onto the next. It is always like this!

I listen to my local public radio station--classical music. I love it. It's cheerful but not distracting. And no commercials!

I'm almost always listening to something on SiriusXM, but every now and then I like to turn the radio off and just have some silence.

I actually don't have a radio in my car. There was a wiring malfunction or something. The sound turned itself all the way up and none of the controls/buttons would work, so we had to disconnect it. I didn't have the money at the time to figure the problem out, so we've been without music for years. It's actually been really good for our kids because we get the chance to have un-distracted conversation time.

Even when I am just in town though, I still play loud music. I always connect to my iPhone and play my music. I have XM radio but don't care for it.

I listen to music or NPR usually, but there's been times when I haven't even noticed the radio is off for 20-30 minutes. I like the silence sometimes. Especially early in the morning.

Sometimes music. Sometimes silence. But it is not really silence, there are thoughts going on in my head.

My car radio is usually on the Sports radio station. But I also listen to the radio or XM and podcasts. I love audiobooks for long car rides by myself.

If I'm by myself - Podcast, audio books or the radio. Very rarely silence. If I'm with the kids - radio or the sound of them. There is no silence then.

I am a loud music, singing at top volume kind of driver. I am sure it is quiet entertaining for those around me. All of the above plus I like to dance in my seat and have a good time. I listen to the decades channels on XM most often: 60s-90s, The Bridge, Classic Vinyl and Rewind, and The Blend.

I really hate every channel on Sirius XM except Lithium, and even that I'm pretty sick of. Why isn't there a dedicated old school rap/hip hop channel? Or if there is one, why can't I find it?

I always listen to music. I had Sirius, but I got rid of that and just started bringing my ipod. I like silence at home a lot--but SO loves music on A LOT. You'd think in the car, I'd want to bask in quiet, but that's the time I listen to the stuff I'd really like to hear.
