I'm sorry, I'm sitting here looking at these & thinking "thats all you've got??" - but I know that these areas aren't used to snow & this is a lot there. We haven't gotten that much this year either so far (knock wood it stays that way!!!) Phew. I thought I was the only one thinking that. I also agree that it's a big deal if you're not used to it. Stay warm and safe, everyone!!!

snow is beautiful when it is first falling, when it's fresh & unmarked on the ground & when it sticks to the trees its just gorgeous!! And then the next day it looks just awful, all grey & slushy & gross!

Ha! yeah, I'm a Midwesterner by birth so our 4" is nothing in comparison to my childhood, but for us in the Nashville area this is a lot of snow! Most we've had since living here

How do you post photos? I have a cute one of my dog! We have 18 in. and are supposed to get 6.5 more in DC area. May not be much to some, but it's a lot for us!

I've lived in Colorado and this is still a lot of snow for one storm. This latest photo is from 2 hours ago and we've had several more inches since then. All of the cars on our cul de sac who backed in - nose out to make it easier to get out - now have their hoods buried. The snow in the cul de sac is so deep that it goes straight from street, over hood, to the windshields. You can no longer see the front of the cars.

A few more pics because I finally remembered to go outside *and* carry my phone with me. Our puppy is named Glacier, so he's in his element! Barn cat Callie is not impressed: My poor car... at least I *think* that's what's under this pile! Same field I posted earlier, taken from near the house all pretty with sunlight.

It is so deep here that it is over my dog's head. I tried to take her out in it a couple of hours ago, and she made it about 10 yards before she gave up. Our back porch under the deck is her only space that she can walk in outside right now.

I have a smaller dog also (Jack Russell) who refused to budge until I shoveled a spot for him. I suspect he would disappear in the snow but I'll not find out. Our snow is fairly light and fluffy; is yours also?

We're hanging tight here in northern Maryland. I'd say we've got between 28-30" of snow thus far. The weather guy says the it should snow another 3 hours or so, though not at the heavy rate we've had. While we still have power, I can't imagine we will go completely through this storm with it on the whole time. The horses are doing well. Our electric line out to them has failed so we've had to take warm water out to them. It could be worse...it's close to the house. And they are drinking what we put out there and that's really good news. My husband is essentially living in his truck as he works at his assigned parking lot at the main Social Security office complex. He does have a share motel room available but he's social anxieties are so bad on a good day, that he won't avail himself of it. As for pics, I haven't really tried to take any while we've been out. Just need to get out and back in! But here's a pic of me as I prepared for a trip out this morning: If I hadn't taken this picture myself, I would swear it was my daughter under all that stuff. Our eyes are truly identical! Well, hers has more green to them but it's kinda freaky to see how much they are the same.

My dog refused to poop all day yesterday. We took him out several times after a plow had come through, but with all the wind and blowing snow, he was terrified. We ended up with about 28" here, which I think is a lot for any one place to get all in one day.
He did poop today, to our relief and undoubtedly his.

We only got about 4 inches here, thank goodness. We had our (over) share last year in Boston. It was extremely windy and cold and snowy last night. I had to drive DS to Boston and then out to Worcester and then home for some auditions. It was horrible driving conditions. I was exhausted when we got home. I didn't want him driving in the dark alone with such an unpredictable forecast.
Those of you that took the brunt of it in Maryland and DC, how long do you expect school to be out? I can't imagine it will be cleared for a couple days at least, right?

Papillon) did the same thing. He pooped in the house 2x! Ugh! He is 9 and knows better but refused to be in the snow.
