Today is a fairly mellow day over here. So, I'm going to look at doing a new recipe. I'll post in a bit w/my dinner plan. Meanwhile, what's for dinner at your house? If I could eat anything today I think I'd make steak, potatoes au' gratin and a huge salad. However, I'm making dinner for the non red-meat eating family, so I'll post something in a bit.
Have a great day everyone. I wish you warm dinners that warm your hearts, as well.
ETA: I am making the chicken fajita pasta that was posted a few days ago. Thank you for the recipe.

I'm trying a new recipe tonite. New in that I haven't made it, but enjoyed at my girlfriend's house. Basically it's pasta & broccoli cooked up in olive oil & garlic. Of course, now that I'm typing it up, it sounds a lot like my sister's broccoli & cavatelli. lol

We're having sea scallops, asparagus and rice pilaf. I can't get over the price of scallops - it's a good thing we only have dd#6 left at home Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

I have potatoes, onions, carrots and a chuck roast in the crock pot.
I'm glad that was on the menu. My throat started hurting yesterday and yup, it's a cold. My sinuses are starting to pound now. An easy comfort food dinner with plenty for leftovers tomorrow is just the right thing.

We have the tail end of the storm that dumped all the snow on the Atlantic US coast over the weekend but without the snow - so it's blowing a gale and raining here now.
So we will soon be having Butternut Squash soup and fresh crusty bread with rice pudding for dessert because I had milk to use up rather than waste it.

My husband has been having a hard few weeks dealing with work. I always try to make something in the day "special" for him. Send in cookies, buy him his favorite muffin, make him relax after dinner with a board game with our 11year old son. Just anything.
Today I decided to cook a "comfort" meal. I'm going to make stuffed cabbage, mash potatoes and corn. I haven't made it in forever and he will love it!

Hot chicken sandwiches with mashed potatoes and corn here. It is dark, dreary and damp here so perfect comfort food even if it is a bit high in calories.

I just made a roast, mashed potatoes, pan fried veggies (carrots, peas, onion and mushrooms) and gravy. DD9's friend claimed it was the best meal she'd ever had Hope DS16 and his friend will like it too, when they arrive home from their school trip.

I've been fighting a cold, so I think tonight we're going to have a big batch of homemade chicken soup. Not very exciting, but it'll taste good.

I am going to a GNO with my/band mom friends. We are trying a new-ish restaurant with a "street food" concept & then going to see the movie Sisters w/Tina Fey & Amy Poehler. I am looking forward to it!

I'm making chicken noodle soup and Parmesan basil biscuits. I'll also have a salad. Tuesday's are always so busy for me, starting at 3:00, I'm running the kids all over until 8:30. So I'm prepping everything now and then will cook in between "taxi" runs

MIL is cooking dinner for GMIL's birthday, so we are eating there. I think she's making turkey, ham, stuffing and other stuff. Should be yummy! A nice way to celebrate such a great lady turning 82. DH has the best grandma!

A very simple, cheap recipe that we love! 15 minute chow mein noodlesPersonally, I don't think the name is all that accurate. And yes it really is doctored up ramen noodles. I add shredded rotisserie chicken, and we have a complete meal. It's SO DELICIOUS!

We're having a family favorite. Creamy White Chili. I've been making it for close to 15 years and it's one of those recipes that everyone, family and friends, seems to like. I like it, because other than doubling it and using fresh garlic, I don't have to make any changes or adjustments to the recipe. Some days I don't feel like tweaking recipes to make them work. I just want to follow the script. I think that's why I prefer baking to cooking most of the time. With baking, you just follow the directions and don't deviate. No thinking involved. Enough about me and my aversion to thinking ....I'll also serve a salad, cranberry-applesauce, grapes, rolls, and since the oven was on for the rolls, I made a coconut oatmeal cookie cake for dessert because DD's friend that's coming for dinner really likes coconut. DD does not like coconut so there are peanut butter blossom cookies for her.

Steak & Pepper Stir Fry with Rice. I got a bag of those sweet mini peppers last week and need to use them up. My oldest son won't eat the most basic kid friendly veggies (green beans, corn) but really loves peppers, mushrooms and green onions. So tonight's dinner is specifically for him. After dinner I've got a few errands to run so will stop at Dairy Queen and get the guys some ice cream sundaes.

I'm doing double duty tonight which dh says I should never do but it's kind of necessary tonight as dd#2 has riding lessons and needs to leave before our regular dinner time ... Grandma takes her so I feed both of them before they leave ... My Mum is not an adventurous eater so it has to be something simple ... tonight it will be macaroni and tomatoes (a childhood fav) or grilled cheese and tomato soup Picky dd#1 will probably eat with them because I'm making The Pioneer Woman's Chicken Tortilla Soup ... a fav for dh and me but not for the dd's ... and there is no way my Mum would eat it

Happily we are still eating well from all the meal prep I did on Sunday. Tonight is chicken and wild rice casserole with a side veggie.

Two meetings after work tonight, so I am having the saddest dinner imaginable at work before I head out: water-packed tuna, green beans and rice crackers. (cue the sad trombones)
Lunch makes up for it, though, with pork verde chili!

I am so about this left over thing. I had leftovers from last night that were supposed to be dinner but I ate them already. I thought I had the dinner thing wrapped up, but now...not so much. I will have to sort it out, but I am thinking maybe a baked potato with veggies again. It is good, easy and fairly quick if one doesn't mind the microwave kind. I recently learned the worlds most perfect way to make a baked potato in the microwave and I can't believe it took me this late in life to figure it out.

Thank you for linking this! I cook with lentils all the time, and this looks a little different than my usual lentil dishes -- plus it sounds yummy, and can be easily adapted for vegetarian DS.
I think tonight I'm going to try making some of the Bisquick "mini-pies" that are made in muffin tins. I'm going to use chicken and a vegetable mix of some kind. Probably those along with a green salad. I need to make something pretty quick and easy, as I have to prep chicken tortilla soup tonight for a birthday lunch at work tomorrow. I thought about just making a double batch of the soup with half of it for our own dinner tonight, but it's not younger DS's favorite and I really don't feel like arguing about dinner tonight.
