So dh got a flu shot in December at work (he's a realtor and his broker arranged for it to be available at the office) ... he's been ragging on me to get one since then I was grocery shopping yesterday and had to pick up a prescription and asked if they were still giving flu shots ... yup ... OK So I get this shot ... no biggie ... but within an hour my arm is killing me and it still hurts Oh well, I'll deal Did you get a flu shot this year?

Yes, I do every year. The more you move your arm around the quicker it will feel better, don't baby it.

Yes, my best friend had debilitating side effects from the flu. I will freely admit it is hard to remember to get it done. My arm was fine. I still remember how a tetanus shot feels!

Yes, always do. Some years my arm hurts worse than others. It's best to get it in the arm you use most and make sure to keep it active that day. A little Motrin may help.

No...not sure why not really....I'm not in a high risk group and I suppose it's a bit of 'it won't happen to me' thinking.

I got mine in October and I thought it was a lot more painful than in previous years. It felt better within a day or two, though.

Rub your arm where the injection site was. You need to dissipate the medication.

I did, but by the time I took DS to get his (3 days later), the Dr office was out of them.
I didn't find that this year's was as painful as years past though.

We all got them in my family. My kids and DH always get them, but this was the first time I have. I'm over 50 and my doctor highly recommended it. I don't remember my arm hurting or any other side effects.

Yes, we all did and have done so for the past few years. Better safe than sorry.
No arm pain. Maybe whoever injected you was rough.

no, I didn't get one (yet) this year... In the past, I would get one every year because the company where I used to work brought a service in to give them on-site, for free. I just don't think about it quite so much any more, which is a bad thing, I know, because the actual flu would be horrible to get. As I get older, I know it's more important, too.
ETA: my arm would ALWAYS hurt and be stiff afterward.

Personally I feel it's all on how the person who is giving the shot is experienced at it. Are they a dart thrower or a plower..the plower is the one who sticks the damn needle in so slow and the end result is that sore muscle and you will notice you are getting a shot. Granted the thickness of the medication is another fact, but I hate those plow types makes me want to just do it myself. Best thing is warm compress and move the arm.

Yes, our family gets them every October every single year. My girls have health issues, and we cannot have the flu in our house. One is getting ready to have open heart surgery so we definitely make sure we also always use hand sanitizer all of the time. We keep it in the car, purses, etc.

I did this year because I didn't want to get sick before my surgery. I am sold on them. And will get them every year from now on. Jen

I did along with two other shots in the same arm. I couldn't even lift my arm in the shower the next morning without whimpering.
Last year, I got the flu and was at the hospital with it so I don't ever want to skip it again.

Everyone in the house has gotten their flu shot except me this year. My dh complained about his arm hurting for a week after getting his shot at work & I've just not thought about getting mine at all after that. I need to put it on my to-do list!

Always. Two years ago, my arm hurt like hell after. More so than usual.
But I've been exposed twice to confirmed cases of the flu where I was that person's caretaker and I didn't get sick. It's worth the discomfort.

Yes. DH has a compromised immune system, so everyone in the house gets them in hopes it helps protect him.

Yes, I get it every year. I had the flu once, and don't every want to get it again - it was miserable.

Yes I do. I get one every year when two of my kids get theirs (they have compromised immune systems) I started getting it with them in solidarity.
My arm always kills me for a few days after I get it. Sometimes it even gets red and hot to the touch. It will eventually go away!

No, but I need to. Around the time when they were first available, everyone in our house was doing the revolving door of illness and I didn't want to get one while I was currently sick.
