Good Friday morning ladies! How was everyone's week? How do you plan to be successful this weekend? I'm off to do grocery shopping today. And then once everything is put away, I'm going to do my workout. My girls are in a big puppet show at school this evening so then we'll be going to watch that. Breakfast: Oatmeal Lunch: ?? I am going to kickboxing class at my lunch hour. I am a little unsure of what to expect. The normal teacher said Monday that he was going to be out for the next 2 weeks so we will have a sub. There are some good teachers and some bad and I don't know who it will be!!
breakfast- scrambled eggs lunch- salad kit from Kroger that are 230 calories dinner- the only thing I have left on my list for the week is salmon or baked chicken with zucchini fritters. I'll pick when I get home!
I did make the shrimp tacos last night and they were so freaking good! Sautéed shrimp on homemade corn tortillas. With shredded cabbage and cilantro and a sweet chili sauce. It was a paleo recipe I found on pinterest.

It was a paleo recipe I found on pinterest. And the recipe would be.... That sounds really good. I had an okay week. Less time exercising than I would like, but I was really good about planning balanced, healthful meals. I have my new fitbit, so I'm going to try to make some goals and stick to them using that. I'm reading Grethen Rubin's book, "Better than Before", and I'm finding it really helpful. I need to mull over some of the ideas that I like and figure out how to apply them. It's a very close look at habits, how we form them, how we keep or break them, and why. She stresses that different tactics work with different people, and talks about how to recognize what motivates you. I'd recommend for developing good habits, and breaking bad ones. ETA What I like about the book is that it explains why so many attempts or programs don't work for me. It's making me rethink my approach to a healthy lifestyle.

I haven't done very well the last couple of days and I caved in and had a slice of cake last night. It didn't even taste good. Moving on and I'm determined to have a good weekend!
ETA: I was under my calorie goal for the day! I'm also really happy with my progress on the elliptical. Tonight was the first time I could do a solid 15 minutes without taking any breaks. I've also clicked it up four notches on the little dial that makes it more difficult since I started. I'm hoping to build up enough stamina to go on a small hike to a waterfall in the spring time.

Shrimp tacos are going on my menu for next week- Yum! Went to the gym this morning and did a variety of things. I played a little game with a goal to burn through a number of calories before my time was up on each machine. I was a winner! I have a really busy weekend ahead to include a dinner out at an awesome pizza place tonight and a birthday party on Sunday. Anyone from St. Louis will know that Gooey Butter Cake is going to be hard to resist! B- veggie omlet L- salad and 1/2 sweet potato D- damn good pizza S- apple and PB

And the recipe would be.... That sounds really good. I was thinking the same thing!! Yesterday I had my swim lesson and I ran. Happy that I got both accomplished because I had to work late ... ended up taking work home so I could make time for my fitness as well. Ended up being a late night for me, but it was so worth it. Rest night today - but I did just walk one mile. Tomorrow morning is my group run with my training group. It's supposed to warm up this weekend, so my Sunday afternoon run should be really nice - I hope!

Well I was traveling this week and wasn't fully on plan. However, I did well in two areas: first, I tracked even when it was ugly, and believe me, it was really ugly a couple times. But I put it into MFP and moved on. Second, I got up early one morning out of 3 and went down to the fitness center in my hotel. Not a huge effort or workout that morning, but better than not showing up at all.
I'll get to the gym today and tomorrow, and want to also get some yoga in this weekend.
Came up with some good ideas for managing food and my energy levels on future trips, which is good since I leave again on Weds.
The food plan for today is a mystery for me as well. B - toast, AB, yogurt L - ? D - profit

Oh, and I wanted to tell you guys about this. So airport food can be a struggle (DFW, I'm looking at you). Yesterday I had lunch in the Raleigh airport, and they had a great option: grilled chicken (with rosemary and lemon, it was good!), and grilled vegetables. The downside was that it included 2 pieces of chicken and coleslaw, which were both overkill. Not only do I hate waste, but I don't need the extra temptation to overeat. Anyway, I didn't, probably because I wasn't ravenous. Travel is a constant for me, and it's either feast or famine. My company's idea of a working breakfast might be pastries and fruit and juice - why don't they just hand me a bag of sugar and a cup of coffee and be done with it. They feed us constantly - 3 meals, 2 breaks, plus sometimes dessert and afterdinner drinks. The food is often really good and it's hard to apply the brakes. Then I'm at airports and it's slim pickings of good food options, so I am usually pretty giddy about finding something reasonably nutritious. I like pictures of what people eat (Brandy's prep photo was awesome), so I thought I'd share. And that's unsweet tea in the background.

It is already late evening here in Finland. I'm watching ice hockey and relaxing -I love Friday! I went to the gym after work as planned earlier. It was a pretty good work out. I have started to jog at treadmill and even though I am really slow, I am happy that I am able to do that. I have always hated running, but maybe I can change that. I don't think I will lose much this week. I haven't been eating well enough, so I can only blame myself. Have a great weekend everyone!

The downside was that it included 2 pieces of chicken and coleslaw, which were both overkill. Not only do I hate waste, but I don't need the extra temptation to overeat. Anyway, I didn't, probably because I wasn't ravenous. I travel a fair amount too - not on par with Kelli, but usually 6 - 7 days a month. DFW is my home airport (Which, usually you don't have to eat as much at your home airport!) I was at SNA - Orange County John Wayne yesterday, and their options weren't great. However, depending on what you're looking for, McDonalds actually has some great protein option. They did a grilled chicken breast cut up for me, only charged me $2.20 - I guess they rang it as a side or something. With all-day breakfast too, I also did an egg mcmufffin without the english muffin and the protein/carbs/fat on that fit my plan really well. Definitely not a lot of veg options there, but I often get things from a couple different places. I've also pretty much started hitting the grocery store as soon as I get somewhere and buying my staples that don't need cooking - some hard boiled eggs, yogurt, string cheese, whatever. I am often in meetings with catered lunches, but at my company, it's common for people to slip away to make phone calls during lunch, so I will sometimes slip back to my room and have my own "packed lunch" if the meal option isn't very good. It really depends on the dynamic of the meeting. Client meetings that obviously won't work, or working lunches, but at the very least at least I controlled my breakfast, can often stick a snack in my bag for all-day meetings. I try to limit eating out to only when I'm with other colleagues and if I'm on my own one evening, stop by a grocery store and pick up something that's easy and on plan. I usually don't have a rental car, but I've found most Ubers are willing to take a quick detour and wait 10 minutes for me to do a fast run into the store, or some of the hotels I stay in are within walking distance to a store. Even if I have to do a couple uber rides, the money I save vs eating out more than offsets my expenses. Anyway, enough about travel - I was on a 3-day to CA this week, all catered/dining out meals. I did my grocery trip (got in a nice 1.5 mile walk too to the store... had to be strategic when buying groceries so it wasn't too heavy to carry back!!), ate breakfast before going down to the meetings every morning, and was able to slip away or grab something out of my bag for lunch. Dinner we had out and thankfully was able to review a menu online ahead of time. Yesterday was a super long day traveling back and not getting home until 11, so I did have some cashews I wouldn't normally eat towards the end of the day, but all things considered it was actually a really good choice and while I was over my calorie goal, everything else was pretty much on track. I've found stress/exhaustion/feeling overwhelmed to be a big trigger for me falling off track, so I'm working hard on taking it easy when I'm feeling stressed and focusing only on basics.

Hi all! I'm still here - I was sent to Portugal for a conference this week and just made it back home. No time to get online much. I did manage to get two runs in. Lisbon is a stunning city to run around in . Food was tough during a 4 day conference where you dont get to make your won choices and just need to deal with what's served. I need to get my butt back in gear on that.

Just a so-so week for me. I had 3 very late evenings and that made it very difficult to eat right (at least that's my excuse) I'm just back from the store and, despite being a little grouchy and hungry, I bought loads of healthy food and stayed away from those evil middle aisles. A fully stocked fridge with "good" foods should make the weekend a winner.

I am trying my best not to give in. Man, I hate mean people. Mean people suck.

Dinner we had out and thankfully was able to review a menu online ahead of time. I read an article this week that said people who decide what to eat at a restaurant ahead of time (and stick to it) eat fewer calories than those who don't decide before they get there.

I have to agree with this - I went out in week 2 this time around and I made my decision before I ever left home. I didn't look at any other options on the menu and ordered what I'd plan. First time ever, I ordered what I set out to. The only thing extra I had was some peanuts because my girls were eating my favorite - loaded cheese fries. I had a few peanuts while they ate the fries and I was able to not touch a single fry.

I'm fully ready for bed before midnight and I am SO stinking excited about it. It has been a LONG week. I am definitely a stress eater too, and find myself reaching for chocolate wherever I can find it, especially at the end of a long week like this one.
I got in my last CrossFit class for the week and my nightly mobility.
Dinner tonight was a spur of the moment trip to Chili's to meet up with a friend (we are hardly ever kid-free at the same time) and i feel like I managed it well.
Tomorrow is a planned rest day. I'll squeeze in my grocery shopping early then will go to two competitions my friends from CrossFit are in. I didn't do a big meal prep last weekend (ate from my stockpile of meals in the freezer) so I'm due for a big prep day on Sunday.
Tackle the weekend, everyone!

More food pictures for these threads, then! I love them too. TankTop, how did you do today? I am a feelings eater of the worst kind, I get it! Actually I am a pathological fatigue eater. Get really tired = cease to care.
