I decided to make a thread so I could update the OP.
FIrst I want to thank you all so much for keeping us close in your hearts.
we have been home since Tuesday afternoon. We are getting our groove together and Dave and I are doing our best to support each other. This is the hardest thing I think we will ever have to go through and we are trying to support each other while supporting Phoebe and our son Camden.
The past 2 days Phoebe has has episodes where she has had difficulty breathing. Although she came out of both of them it was still scary and hard to face since we know that at some point she won't just be able to come out of it. We remain secure that bringing her home was the best decision for us as a family,
again thank you again for all of your support.

Today was a special day. Our hospice childlife worker contacted the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. They have a phenomenal penguin exhibit. Phoebe wanted to be a penguin veterinarian when she got older and work at the zoo. Not knowing if she would be strong enough to visit the zoo and penguins again, the zoo mobile brought penguins to us. They told us today they had never visited a home before but did so for Phoebe.
they literally drove 2 penguins (Winnie and Lillie) to our house and we got to have one on one time with the penguins-petting them and listening to them bray (not sure what the official name of their sound is-but they sound like donkeys and are louder than you would think!). We were able to have her best friends with us and it was a truly amazing experience. Phoebe does not show much emotion anymore (no smiling or laughing) but she reached repeatedly for the penguins and really seemed engaged.
At the same time it was bittersweet-her friends were so full of energy and crazy just like she used to be. I love that her friends were so amazing with her-she looks and acts so different than she used to and they just love her for being their friend Phoebe. When they left my best friend texted me that the girls were discussing when they could come back to visit her again.
If you are interested in pics feel free to go to our Facebook page (Fight for Phoebe)- it is an open page and you don't need to like it to see the pics. We are forever grateful to the Maryland Zoo. If you ever visit Maryland please think of visiting and supporting the zoo!
Oh-and they have also allowed Phoebe to name the next penguin chick. One was just born and we had to choose a fish name since that is their theme this year. We chose Mandarin-the Mandarin fish is one of the brightest and most beautiful fish in the ocean. It is bright orange (like the Orioles-and our son Camden is named after Camden Yards where the O's play) with bright turquoise and blue ribbons of color running through it-Phoebe's favorite. The Zoo has been so supportive and wonderful!
