I really enjoyed Grease this time around. I would love to see them do The Music Man or Oklahoma. What would you like to see?

Hamilton
I even suggested it to Lin-Manuel Miranda on twitter. (I have a HUGE theatre crush on him)
I think Fiddler on the Roof would be a good one or Throughly Modern Millie. I love the tapping in it.

While I loved that show, there is NO way they could do it on network television. Maybe HBO.

I'd like to see Little Shop of Horrors or My Fair Lady. Love both of those. I told DH we need to rewatch My Fair Lady. It's one of the few musicals my English teacher hubby likes since it's based on one of his favorite short stories.

If it needs to be done than pbs should do it. They get it right and you can hear it.

There was a live UK version of Rocky Horror done at Halloween. Did anyone else see that? Richard O'Brien was there and did the Time Warp, but the guy (David Bedella) they had playing Frank was all wrong, he was too stocky and short and made a very unattractive Frank. Plus the whole thing was a bit too pretty and clean looking, Rocky Horror is meant to be grungy and a bit tacky.

Fiddler would be a good one. I saw My Fair Lady on stage w/Rex Harrison and it was marvelous. It would make a good tele-musical.

TBH, I find they are less concerned with talent and more concerned with 'name-brand' actors.
I do like terri's list but none of them would make it past the broadcast censors.

I don't know why, but I first thought of Fiddler on the Roof. For sentimental reasons, Damn Yankees. It's the only Broadway play I have seen on Broadway.

What I didn't like, though, was you couldn't hear the audience so for example when Stephen Fry was reading and responding to them, I couldn't hear what they were saying to get the reactions from him. Didn't they do a live The Music Man with Matthew Broderick already? I know one was broadcast but maybe it wasn't live. Avenue Q would never get past the censors, but great show! Maybe Spamalot or Wicked?

That! Note sure you can clean it up enough for regular TV and it still be as amazing as it is.. But

We haven't watched any, couldn't handle the thought of Sound of Music .
I saw a clip of Grease this morning and wish I'd watched. The lead, Danny Zuko character, can dance!

I think part of the reason that Grease Live was so successful is that it is a movie that all of the teens have seen and love. The Sound of Music was a snoozefest to that age group, so I think they need to focus on shows that most people have seen in one form or another.

I didn't watch Grease, but I did watch half of The Sound of Music. It was just bad. Bad sound, bad acting by the lead, bad stage direction.

That was a one off celebrity production in aid of charity....Amnesty international if I remember rightly. It was a "fun" production rather than a serious live performance.
