Also, if a movie is based on a true story I feel compelled to look up how accurate the movie is and what happened to the person(s) since the time period of the movie.

I look up everyone on the earth on IMDB. I thought it was just me! I do this all the time. Like every night I have to have it open to look someone up I saw in a movie, wrote a song, preformed in Vegas or did ballet. It is as addictive as Pinterest, but more so for me. I am so interested it's terrible! I want to know everyone's nickname or real name or birthdate or what have you. It's a guilty pleasure.

I notice the tiny details. And sometimes not so tiny. There is that commercial with 3 or 4 women playing a card game, and I think they are playing spoons, but they are holding too many cards. And you would never have snacks on the table. The game is way too aggressive. Or maybe not everyone plays spoons aggressively.
Just saw it again. There are 3 women, with 3 spoons! It should be two spoons. Unless they aren't playing spoons. If not, does anyone know what game it is? It's a Ritz cracker commercial.

I love IMDB. I love the section that lists the goofs in a movie and the random facts about the movie/filming. Like what weird quirks the actors had to get into character or pranks someone pulled, etc.

We sort of do that too. Ours goes like this
DH "Hey, you know who that guy is?"
ME "No, who is he?"
DH "He was in that movie. He played the guy. You know"
ME "Ummmm ... I need more details"
DH "You know who he is!"
And then I have to IMDB because it's going to drive me crazy cause often I do NOT know who he is LOL

But my little thing on TV pet peeve - makes me crazy - is when a character is holding a coffee cup that's empty and pretending to drink out of it. You hold an empty coffee cup differently than a full one. At least put water in it. I hate characters holding coffee cups for this reason. I find it very distracting.

I hate watching shows with them because my sister will point out someone who was in some other show or movie and mom would be like who? I had to teach them to use imdb. I notice people from different shows and movies all the time. But trying to punt that out to dh is maddening sometimes. There are a lot of movies and shows he never saw!

I was watching something recently (The Middle, maybe?) and one character's voice sounded so familiar. I said, "She did the voice for Sadness on 'Inside Out'!" Checked IMBD, and sure enough, that's who it was. DD's boyfriend was impressed.
We watch "Artful Detective" ("Murdoch Mysteries, to you Canadians) and often look up different names or historical facts mentioned on the show. Even the episode where Thomas Edison's son changed his name. That really happened!
I've even checked wikipedia on a movie I'm watching if it's hard to follow or if I miss something- Soylent Green (read the whole synopsis first to see if I wanted to spend time watching it), Psycho (I was on the treadmil for the first few minutes and missed some important info), Vertigo (was that for real, or was he just imagining that?), etc.
And now DH notices that Vanessa in "Last Mand Standing" drinks wine an awful lot, since I mentioned it a few weeks ago.

This sounds like my daughter - stuff like this makes her absolutely bonkers. And it's usually stuff that most folks would never notice - like someone on tv singing a song in the "wrong" key. She's a hoot, that kid.

Did you notice the parents in Life in Pieces were the parents in Tina Fey & Amy Poehlar's Sisters movie? I loved that!!! And the character Greg is played by Tom Hank's son. I think his name is Collin. Once we discovered that we couldn't quit noticing how much he looks and sounds like his dad!

Haha figures my super power would be something obscure. Did you do the test? I'm horrible with faces and i got 10/14, so I'm curious how you did :-) I sent it to dh, he can recognize someone and say, that girl at the restaurant plays tinkerbell at the parade. I can't even recognize people I've just met 10 min ago, eg a coworker's wife.

And other things as well- carrying moving boxes or grocery bags that are obviously filled with styrofoam food or are just empty... Real boxes or groceries would be awkward to carry but the actors just handle them like they're light as a feather. Drives me crazy!

I do this when I read books on my Kindle too! If it mentions a real name, a painting, another book... ^^^ I do this, too!! Right now I'm reading the book "Shopping, Seduction & Mr. Selfridge" which is the true story of Harry Selfridge, the American who built Selfridge's department store in London-- the book upon which the Masterpiece Theater series is based. The book starts out in Chicago, talking about his early days working at Marshall Field's... I have so many pages of that book marked for things I want to look up later, it's crazy! (I just keep forgetting to actually look the things up, lol!) We will sometimes do it while watching a movie, especially if we 'sort of' recognize an actor but can't quite place them. Then, I have to look it up to figure out where we saw them before.

We need to form a club, lol. I can't watch TV or a movie w/out my tablet all ready to hit imdb!
And I also notice things like empty cups, etc. I'm always checking sorority & fraternity letters to see if they're correct. More than once I've noticed a movie or TV show that calls the sorority Psi Chi something-or-other and the letters are not right.
I took that quiz & got 10/14. Some of them were really hard - they distorted the features. Not fair, lol.
