Have we talked about this already? I can't remember anything lately. How many of you are using a delivery or pick-up service for your groceries? I started using the Walmart pick-up service several months ago when a new store opened near me. I normally hate WM but this service has been great for me. I have also started paying my dd to pick them up after school and putting all the stuff away for me for some extra $$. She loves it too! A few of the other stores (Publix and Kroger) advertise they are going to start this service but I haven't seen it at my local stores yet. The only negative I see is that I can't use coupons and I can't really do my casual food shopping this way. It is great for those common items like cleaning supplies, dog food, etc. I've got a code if anyone is interested in the WM service. I think you and I get $10 off the first purchase maybe. code

meredith I've been wanting to use WM's service but every time I'm ready to sit down and order I'm pretty desperate for most of the items and it is 2-3 days until the next appointment for pick up. I need to figure out how to get more organized so I know what I need/want before I NEED it.

In the UK grocery deliveries have been commonplace for quite a few years now. I go through phases with it. It can be very convenient....once you've shopped a couple of times you can scroll through your favourites or previous shops and just click on repeat items and we can use coupons too.
Sometimes though I want to choose my own broccoli:grin: although having said that, you can add notes against items such as 'pick green bananas please' which is helpful.

I want to use WM's, but there is no option to avoid the plastic bags and either not bag or use reusable bags.
So, I just can't bring myself to use the service.

HyVee has the app. You can shop from the app, then pick it up or have it delivered. I haven't tried it yet.

The only negative I see is that I can't use coupons and I can't really do my casual food shopping this way. It is great for those common items like cleaning supplies, dog food, etc. Kroger and Publix are serviced through a third party, called Shipt. I am a shopper for Shipt in Phoenix. My clients vary between moms with kids they don't want to haul to the store, busy professionals, bachelors, and elderly/homebound. The biggest reason my customers use it is because it helps them and they need that more than the cost savings. Our service has a markup on the groceries because we're essentially a reseller of groceries. We send a shopper to the store, who buys them at retail price, and then there's a slight markup to you to help pay for the service. While this makes the individual groceries more expensive, a lot of my customers say they save money because not going to the store reduces the impulse shopping and the kids and spouses adding extra stuff to the cart. Others are just glad to pay the upcharge to have their time back. If anyone wants to try Shipt, they're giving a free $20 credit on your first order as a Valentine's Day promo. Normally the credit is $10. This is my link if anyone wants to try. It also has a two week membership for free. One membership covers anywhere you want to have delivered, so I have several clients who use it to deliver their own groceries, and groceries to their office, their elderly parents, and their college kids. We're even delivering flowers for Valentine's Day Anyway, end plug. I really like working for Shipt. I've been with the company since it started in Phoenix in October.

Could you just save the bags and recycle them yourself? Almost every grocery store around here has a bin out front for bags. Kohls will take them too.

As much as I don't like grocery shopping I can't imagine having someone else doing it for me, especially fruits, vegetables and meat.

I would like to, but I live less than one block from my grocery store so I would feel too guilty to use the service.

I live in Poland and I love the delivery service. I do pick up a few fruits from a fruit stand down the street but most of our items come from the large grocery store that delivers. The only downside is if they're out of an item and I planned to use it right away. Otherwise it works out great. I save time and money. I can quickly add my weekly purchases to my cart, plan the weekly menu and add those items and I'm done. No impulse shopping and if it's snowing outside I still get my groceries. The delivery charge is about $2.50

Online grocery orders and deliveries from the supermarkets have been available for many years in the UK now and I find it really convenient and especially good for the heavy stuff and tins etc. Delivery slots are available seven days a week and include late evening slots. I tend to get a delivery every two weeks but don't always order from the same store though, it depends what I want. The stores use plastic bags for the delivery....though they now have to charge a small fee for the use of plastic bags......but there is the option for the bags not to be used.
I still visit a store during the week to get fresh veg and use the local shops to get fresh bread daily but get the vast majority of stuff needed with the deliveries.

One of our Kroger brand stores offers it. It is not the most convienent store to use, but I think I am going to try it out for senior discount day next month. I do my MILs shopping (she lives with us) but it's honestly not worth bringing her into the store for the 10% discount. She needs a wheelchair and I don't want to worry about her and pushing the cart, or bugging someone to help me.
My thinking is that since most of what I buy for her anyways is store brand (where the discount comes into play) it might cancel out the $4.99 fee with what she saves via the discount. I can do a larger shopping and not have to step foot in the store one time a month! We get three trial shopping spree for free, so it's worth a try!
My understanding of this service is that I place my order online, an employee shops for me and I give them a one hour pick up window. I can still use coupons. I park and they bring the groceries out to me.

I use Amazon Fresh occasionally. But, generally I like to pick out my own produce, so grocery delivery isn't my favorite.

My local grocery store Hy-Vee has delivery and it's AWESOME! If you spend more than $100 it's free! I don't always use it depending on my time and my mood because I usually enjoy grocery shopping, but the few times I have it's been great and a HUGE time saver.

I DREAM of the day that my DS gets his license so he can do all my grocery shopping! In the meantime, I've been thinking of trying Instacart. The do grocery delivery for HEB, Central Market, Costco, Petco and Spec's (our big liquor store). I'm not totally clear on the cost, but I think the time savings and aggravation avoidance would be worth it. Grocery shopping is by far my most-hated chore.

I shop exclusively using Fresh Direct. The prices for some things are higher than my neighborhood grocery store (potatoes, eggs), but many things are less expensive (veggie burgers, sparkling water), so it all comes out in the wash. I have a reserved two-hour delivery window every week; I just have to get my order in before 11:00 the night before. If you don't have a timeslot reserved, then sometimes you have to wait a day or two. It was a lifesaver when my kids were littler. I could shop at any time of the day or night, and I didn't have to bring anyone with me to the store! In NYC, you don't drive to the store; you walk. That means you have to carry everything home, or (in my neighborhood) a guy from the store follows you home with a store shopping cart if you're getting "delivery." I have a folding pushcart, but it won't hold a week's worth of groceries for my whole family. It's great for budgeting, too - I load up my cart with everything I want, and if it's over budget, I just delete some things. They have sales and online coupons, and I love shopping from my previous orders - I do a fixed rotation of dinner menus each week, so reordering is easy. Their catering is pretty good, too.

Our local grocery store uses a company called Peapod for delivery. I love it. I was a bit nervous about the fruits, veggies and meat and honestly I am never disappointed. They are better than what I could pick out in the store for myself. The groceries are brought right into my house and into the kitchen. I find that I am spending much less, even with the delivery fee and a lot of the groceries are actually cheaper with ordering through Peapod than actually going to the store. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis that isn't under control so going to the store causes me a great deal of pain by the time I am home and have carried all the groceries into the house. This has been a lifesaver for me. I can't see myself ever doing a full grocery shopping trip at the store ever again.

As much as I don't like grocery shopping I can't imagine having someone else doing it for me, especially fruits, vegetables and meat. I don't order a lot of fruits or vegetables from WM. I will do a bag of salad, oranges, grapefruits, bag of potatoes, peppers and onions maybe but I like to pick out my own bananas and strawberries. I did order a few apples, blueberries and strawberries back at the end of summer and they were actually pretty good. I was kinda desperate that week for time so I took a chance.

Our local Fred Meyer just installed an online shopping pick up area. It's pretty handy. I can place my order online, then swing through a drive through to get my order. It's actually more convenient for me than getting it delivered.

I've used it awhile ago when the kids were young. It is expanding here for Vons and Albertsons though but I know a guy who delivers the items and he says it's really the same company. The only downside is they don't treat their full-time employees that well. He may have to drive an hour plus each way to get to a store if they need him to and that is unpaid. He doesn't get paid until he clocks in at the store. Part-timers are allowed to limit their schedule and work out of one store, but full-timers are only guaranteed a certain number of hours minimum (less than 40) and have to be available for all shifts 7 days/week at all area stores.
DH and DS do their own shopping now so I don't need a service but if they didn't, I would totally use it. I hate grocery shopping and figuring out what to make.

As other UK peas have said, we have had delivery options here for a while. You can either select a time slot and have it delivered or some shops offer a click and collect service where you order online, they select and pack it and you collect from the store. That can be handy since you don't have to stay at home and can collect within a time period that suits you. I don't make as much use of the delivery options as I could but it really comes into it's own when we are returning from holidays. The last thing I want to do after a drive and a ferry trip from France is head out to restock the fridge etc so placing an order to be delivered a couple of hours after we get home is a bonus.
