I always think, when looking at the 200 count of Excedrin, for example.
I feel like it's just caving in to a future of 100 headaches.
The same way with Bandaids-- are we going to cut ourselves 24 more times?
It just feels negative.
Do you ever have thoughts like this when buying large amounts of something? If so, what?

I've never had those thoughts about most bulk items, but I do admit to always feeling a little silly when I march out of a store with a large amount of toilet paper. I know TP is a necessity, obviously, but I always feel a little like I'm announcing that I'm headed home to spend some real quality time on the toilet.

Lol, no, I've never thought of it that way. I guarantee I will now, though!

The 3 lb bag of bananas at Costco. I just KNOW I'm going to end up throwing some of them away but I'm always hopeful that just once we'll actually eat them all.

When my girls started their periods they told me at 10pm they needed supplies because they were out. I gave them a warning, after that BULK! They laugh about it, dad brought them to Sans and bought it in bulk all their lady products. It probably looked like they were sticking up the high school bathrooms.

Every time I buy the double-pack of Q-tips (600) I wonder how I will ever use them all. And yet, I'm about to do it again.

I have three teenage girls and a 10 year old boy. I buy in bulk to save my sanity. Seeing all that stuff on my shelves lets me sigh with relief that I hopefully won't have to go to the store again for a month!

I'm usually thinking I'm glad things like bandaids come in bulk so I don't have use paper towel and scotch tope.
ETA: My dad would have loved if we could have bought feminine hygiene products in bulk. There were 4 girls in the family. He always joked he should buy stock in the company.

We can't buy painkillers in bulk or even large amounts in the UK so I don't know if it would feel negative. However I do like to buy other things like loo rolls, washing up liquid, laundry stuff and other things in bulk. It pleases me to see them stored away, knowing that we won't need to buy any more for a few weeks.......it feels pretty positive then!

OhMyGosh!!! The OP is funny!!!
But to answer, no--if when I buy bulk, it's because it's something that I know we'll need for the long haul!

Once I found a really great sale on TP, and as I was walking out of Target with a cart full, I heard a teen remark to another teen "there's a lot of shit going on at that house!" I had to laugh, but I was slightly embarrassed! !

I love buying things we use often in bulk.
TP & tampons/pads, in particular.
Nothing sucks more than realizing that you need any of those items during a storm, late at night, when you're broke, etc.

TP and paper towels are the 2 things that I ALWAYS stock up on. Every single time there's a coupon offered for either of those 2 things, I buy.

They laugh about it, dad brought them to Sans and bought it in bulk all their lady products. It probably looked like they were sticking up the high school bathrooms. Back in the dark ages when I was a poor, starving college student, my grandfather would show up just to take me grocery shopping. This was back in the days when there was no place like Costco so off to a regular old grocery store we would go. He would act like the worlds biggest grumpy pants the whole time, but every time I would even look at something, he would put it in the cart. As the father of three girls, he didn't even blink at all the girlie stuff and when I would put tampons in the cart, he would in put three more boxes. He would do the same thing with toilet paper and other staples. We would get to my apartment, he would help me unload, kiss me on the cheek, hand me $50 and say 'don't tell mama' (my grandmother) and be on his way. It is one of my all time favorite memories of him. He was one of the single most generous men I have ever known. And I never, ever ran out of tampons. EVER.

I only think "Do I have room for this?" because space of any sort, be it cupboards, closets, or medicine cabinets, is in short supply around here. Mind you, I have 2 young sons, so I probably can count on needing all of those Advil & Band-aids no problem!

Nothing makes me happier than buying in bulk and having a full pantry. Comes from having 6 brothers and sisters and growing up poor, I suppose.

Back in the REAL olden days before any of us used Tampax, my dad would have to go to the base exchange and buy the super duper huge box of Kotex. I often wondered if it bothered him but he never let on like it did.

I never bat an eye at buying medication. I would much rather have a decent stock pile than have to drag myself out to buy some cold medicine when I feel like shit.

Not really.... sometimes I think on food items, who buys those huge vats of mayo or mustard (except restaurant owners or similar)...

I WISH buying huge amounts of toilet paper meant I could look forward to lots of uses. Sharlag, instead of thinking how many times you can use something, think about NOT having to purchase this item for a long time. Less errands to run.

Not necessarily think about the morose-ness of having 24 cuts or 768 colds, but my friend and I giggle like 12 year olds about "what in the world are they going to DO with all of that?!" and let our minds run wild making up stories.
