I have a reserve charger for my cell phone. It is a reserve battery and it is about the size of an iPhone. My phone doesn't hold a charge for a super long time, and I would like to use it on the plane to play a few games to pass the time. I would need to use the backup charger at some point to keep it going.
Is this something that goes through security easy in a carry on/purse? Or should I just skip it and pack it in my checked bag? I can live without it, but it would be nice to have on me. I don't want to have to surrender it at the security gate. I don't travel by air a lot. I do know the regulations about liquids, and sizes - but wasn't sure on this.
Thanks for any input.

I always carry one with me for long haul flights. Never had a problem.

Concur with all above. This is a typical item in a business travelers briefcase. Should have absolutely no trouble.

It won't be a problem. I would also bring my charger cable. I generally fly Delta and 95% of the time my plane has electrical and USB ports at my seat.

Over Christmas, I was stopped for one in my purse. My external charger is the size of a tube of lipstick.
DD has one and she went through just fine. So you may be stopped, but they are legal to take on an airplane. We went thought the TSA precheck line for military at Dulles in DC, if that matters.

Some airlines have electrical and USB ports under the seats now. And some say they do but doggone, they hide them well because I couldn't find them even though the sign above the seat said there was an outlet.

I generally check out my seat info via the Seat Guru app. Sometimes it will say my plane has power at every seat and when I board I find they were wrong. That sucked the first few times. Now I bring my external charger every time just in case.
