I just finished watching this. I smiled and cried through the whole movie, I soaked 4 Kleenex!
It was the sweetest movie I have seen in ages.
It's about a retired guy (Robert De Niro) who goes to work as an intern for the young owner (Anne Hathaway)of newish Internet company. It starts out that he needs her because he feels like he doesn't have a purpose but it turns out she needs him just as much. It was a beautiful story of friendship and love.
Now I need to reapply my eye makeup and go to dinner.

I read the title of your post, smiled and thought, "That was such a sweet movie," as I opened the thread. We agree!

I attempted to watch this on a flight last month. I was totally loving it. And then we landed with 11 minutes left in the movie and I have NO IDEA how it ended!!!!

I hated the husband story line. That just frustrated the hell out of me, like it was no big deal, all is forgiven.

We watched it a few weekends ago on PPV. My whole family enjoyed it. It was not as funny as we were expecting but it was very touching.

Nancy Meyer movies are my favorite! This wasn't my favorite of her movies but we enjoyed it when we went and saw it. DH and I both like Ann Hathaway and I thought the relationship between DeNiro and his young co-workers were charming and fun.

I attempted to watch this on a flight last month. I was totally loving it. And then we landed with 11 minutes left in the movie and I have NO IDEA how it ended!!!! She decides not to hire the CEO after all. Separately, her husband comes to her office and apologizes and says he's committed to her. He apologizes and they make up. Unaware of her decision, he also encourages her to not hire the CEO, saying that she deserves to run her own company, etc, etc. The next day it shows Robert DeNiro not at work. She asks where he is and someone says "he went out" or "he took the day off" or something noncommittal like that. She goes to find him and it shows him doing his Tai Chi in the park again like at the beginning, so she joins him. I wasn't sure if that meant he was done working for her or just to signify that he helped her find balance or what. It was weird.

I hated the husband story line. That just frustrated the hell out of me, like it was no big deal, all is forgiven. I really enjoyed most of the movie, but hated this story line, too. It was flat & unrealistic and a distraction to the rest of the cute movie.

DH and I watched it over the weekend and we both really liked it. It did make me realize how I'm not as tech savvy as I thought I was, lol. Also, like Jen said, we thought the ending was weird. I even said to DH, that's it?

I thought it was a sweet movie-- and I was totally pleasantly surprised by it. Lately the movies I have seen have been disappointing overall.

I really liked it, just watched it last night.
I kind of enjoyed the husband storyline because it's different. I was expecting she'd have to kick him out and be Super Single Successful Career Woman/Mom because that's what everyone expects. But you know what, life isn't always black and white.
Anyway it's open to interpretation at the end, maybe she does give him the boot. But she wants it to work and so does he and there's a child to consider, one that she can't raise on her own with that workload. I felt her pain. Really nice movie with great actors.

This is the movie that DH's cousin is in... her first movie role. She plays the young woman who interviews him and asks him what he majored in. "Do you remember?" LOL

I kind of liked the whole husband subplot. It was a modern twist on the bored housewife taking up with the tennis instructor storyline. He needed to feel needed and valuable and he wasn't getting that at home.
I really loved when the young hipsters started dressing like DeNiro.
