After my last post I have decided to give washi a try. I would like to draw on everyone's expertise and make a list of companies that make the stickier washi tapes or the brands known to not stay stuck at all. I don't want to waste my money on those tapes if I can avoid them. Feel free to list your favorite companies as well.

The best washi in my opinion, by far, is Freckled Fawn. I find it stays down, but can be removed pretty easily if you peel carefully. The worst ones are usually the no name generic brands. I am going to put my 2 cents in here as well, and say if you live in certain types of climates washi might be less effective. If you live in a very hot, or humid climate it might be more likely to become unstuck over time. Honestly, though, I almost never have any issues with washi coming undone.

They're all pretty much the same to me. Just go buy a few and have some fun with it!

The ones from dollar spots/dollar store are my least favorite. I also do not care for doodlebug as I think their designs are so faint they are difficult to see.

I have found that when I have purchase several washi rolls from Etsy sellers, I end up with one or two that seem cheaper and definitely tackier. I agree about Freckled Fawn, and all of the scrapbook company washi has been good for me, except for Bella Blvd, (I think) They don't seem to stay down as well.
ETA: I forgot...I've had several WRMK brand washi and most of it was good, but one pkg was probably defective because it was so stuck down it ripped when I tried to get it off the roll.

I don't think the tape at Dollar Tree is actually washi, it is thicker and sticks way too well to be washi. The only other kinds I've gotten are one or two Scotch and the rest are all Studio G and they do ok.

I have found that the washi tapes that come from Japan (MT brand) are less sticky than the ones marketed by American craft companies. But I haven't had any tapes come up on me. I sometimes prefer the less sticky because I can move it around if I don't like where I originally stuck it.
Also "washi" is a certain type of paper, so a lot of the tapes being called "washi" are not true washi tapes.

Both the rolls I got in a October Afternoon deal (on Peachy Cheap) are more sticky. Everything else I have from various companies are able to be moved without ripping the paper. The OA ones also stick to their own roll when trying to get them off.

I like My Mind's Eye washi, it seems to do a tad better than most for me. I have some Little B, and while it's a gorgeous white with tiny gold hearts and I love it, it just doesn't seem to want to stick.

The Scotch brand that you can find at Target or office supply stores is good too.

The OA ones also stick to their own roll when trying to get them off. I will second this. I have a Christmas roll which I love but was tempted to just throw in the bin because it sticks to itself so badly then leaves a horrible sticky residue all over the front of the tape. It's the only roll of OA I have so I was never sure if I just got a bad roll or if this is normal for their tapes.

I have three rolls (one red with tiny dots, one green holly one and a gray one with stars). At first I just thought it was the one roll, but recently used the others and they are all consistently extra sticky.

I don't think the tape at Dollar Tree is actually washi, I agree with this. It has a plastic coating on it, and is definitely thicker. I actually don't like it (I had several rolls that I gave to my kids to use on school projects. They work well for that) I have yet to have any problem with actual washi tape. It has never unstuck for me.
