Does the interior of your car have a lived-in look or is it bare?
Mine is bare. I only have what I need for the day in my car. I pretty much dont leave things in my car. Even my trunk only has emergency supplies, things to clean the car if something spills, and reusable shopping bags. I think this is a habit from growing up in a shady neighborhood and we never left things in the car.
On the other end, my friend always has to move things off the seats if she drives us somewhere. And her trunk is packed.
How about you?

Mine is often full of stuff, because I can't carry everything in when I get home, and it is too difficult for me to make another trip down/up the stairs after having just come up them. But last Tuesday my son & dil cleaned out everything except the very back (leaving just stuff that needed to go to other people), and right now I can tell you that there is NOTHING in my car that shouldn't be there! It's a great feeling.

How about we play the game " Guess what's NOT in the car". We have food and drinks. There is gum for she who used to need to chew gum. There are 2 yoga mats. A dozen or more gym towels, a few water bottles and a good dozen reusable grocery bags. There are also at a minimum 2 dozen pairs of shoes. Yes. In case I need a spare pair I am covered!

I'm like you katlady , my car is very bare. I always carry everything in when I get home, if I create trash it comes with me at the next stop I don't wait until I get home. Even my glovebox and box under the armrest is fairly empty. In the spot between the seats I keep chargers, a pen, extra sunglasses, wipes and a refillable ice bag for my SI joint; I use all of these very frequently. My glovebox contains the manual, an umbrella, tire gauge and ice on the go bags for my lower bag. In the very back I have a canvas basket with blankets, pillows and an eye mask for my husband for car rides, and my shopping bags. The only time there is anything else in my car is when I have returns or items I want to drop at the goodwill or to friends/family. And those don't stay very long. Oh, and I keep an extendable Swiffer in the driver's side door so that I can dust across the large SUV at long lights, and my reacher (bad back) between the passenger seat and armrest. To me it is very relaxing every time I get in the car and makes driving, shopping, traveling much more enjoyable. DH and I have to share a car for about a month and my shoulders start tensing every time I climb in. Not looking forward to this!

The console of the car has gum, business cards and spare change ... and the hatchback has a big quilt to protect the carpet from my huge dog who rides back there ...
The truck has the same stuff in the console but also has dh's gym bag and box of business stuff in the back (he's a realtor) ...

I really did appreciate it, even if there was an ulterior motive of making room for another carseat in the car so I could watch the kids.

There are about 3 big bags of shoes. Some are running shoes, flip flops, sandals, heels, I used to keep spares at work if my feet got sore. I have a big trunk. Only a dog towel and a couple of grocery bags are IN the car back seat. The trunk is full. I haven't been to yoga in over a year and there are 2 mats in the trunk. One for me and one for a friend. I should just throw out whatever I am not using in the trunk. It's on my to do list...

Right now I'm embarrassed by the state of my car interior. It is a mess! The passenger seat tends to be my catch all spot. There is mail that needs brought into the house, an avalanche of receipts and straw covers, a tervis type of drinkware, a box of dehydrated soup. The back seat has two coats, an umbrella, sunshade for the windshield. The trunk as a six pack of V-8, a tarp, a case of protein drinks and a 3 pound bag of onions. Maybe I should finish bringing in the groceries tonight... at least the onions.

We have a large metal dog crate in the cargo area and a soft portable dog crate in the back seat. So that tells you what we have in my car I usually take just about everything inside each day. But sometimes dd leaves stuff in the back seat.

Other than the normal stuff in the console like sunglasses, phone charger, garage door opener, and a pen, I like the bare look. Other than an umbrella and ice scraper all that's in the back is a spare pair of flip flops for pedicures.

My car currently has three board games in the trunk, a pad of paper, a card game, a deck of cards, about ten pairs of shoes (some work heels and flip flops), several pairs of socks (for spontaneous bowling trips), and usually a light sweater. I only have that may pairs of shoes in my car because I hate to wear my work heels when I'm driving and so will wear flips flops out of the house and then I end up with shoes in my car at the end of the day.

The front and back seat areas of my car are bare, the back area has two collapsible crates that I use to put grocery bags in so things don't tip over and roll around. There is a box that holds my reusable grocery bags and a car throw blanket. I have two umbrellas and my snow brush/scraper.

A rain jacket and umbrella (hey, it's Seattle!). Standard stuff in the console (phone charger, pen, lip balm, etc). I think dd has some sheet music in the cubby on the passenger door.

My car is pretty bare currently - a pair of wellies and a gilet is all that's in there but will come out today and an umbrella. But I do keep a 'kit' in my glove compartment; hand cleanser, hand cream, tampons, breath freshener, plastic bag, pain killer tabs, pen, piece of paper, lip balm, emery board, tissues....and maybe something else I've forgotten.
In the boot/trunk is a book map and a first aid kit.

I have things in the glove compartment like tissues, maps, flashlight, emergency kit, and car manual. There is money in the ashtray for emergencies. In the pouch behind the driver's seat is a compact umbrella and a couple of zip strips to use on the dog seat that is suspended in the space between the two front seats and above the armrest. There is a piece that tends to slip off when raising the seat up to access the armrest bin.
The back has three plastic bins that are made to put your groceries in. There is also a furry little pet bed that I put in the seat area of the cart when I go into stores that allow my dog.
The only thing that is in there that shouldn't be us a big bag of cat litter that is too heavy for me to carry as is. I need to split it between two buckets to carry upstairs.
Oh wait, there is a Ziplock bag with a small first aid kit and a couple of space blankets.
Pretty vanilla list, huh?

Dh is just one of those people who is mostly very neat and precise. (although he does share my penchant for "filing" in piles--working on that with our move and organization for wherever we live next)
Our car is in incredibly great shape for being 12 years old. We don't leave trash in it and try to keep it organized.
Dh keeps a container of gum in the driver's door pocket, and there's several cords plugged into the console and a phone holder on the dash for the GPS. The seat divider has a little coin holder, lotion, hand sanitizer, a couple of emory files in different grits.
The glove box has two flashlights of different sizes, a microfibre rag for wiping the windshield, the owner's manual has it's own little shelf and we keep the insurance info and vehicle registration. We also keep extra sunglasses in the glove box just in case.
Now that I have two pairs of prescription sunglasses, I'm going to keep one pair in the glove box and suggest dh does the same. There's nothing worse than getting stuck in the bright sun wearing glasses that are burning my eyes like a magnifying glass. I also just bought two pairs of polar fleece gloves on clearance at Walmart to keep in the glove box. My hands get so cold, and I usually keep gloves in my handbag, but I keep these in the car just in case. I keep two pairs so dh has a pair, too. (I also have a choice of what pair to wear with my outfit)
*I also like to keep a few gallon sized ziplock bags in the glove box and the kangaroo pouch on the front of the passenger seat where I sit because with my pancreatitis, when I get sick it happens very quickly and unexpectedly. The gallon sized is big enough for me to put around my face and can be sealed quickly--if I can't throw it out immediately because we're in the middle of nowhere, I stick the bag in another bag.*
The back seat has a brush/ice scraper, a small box of tissues, a few plastic bags, and an atlas book in the pouches on the back of the front seats. Our umbrellas live under the passenger seat where they're easily grabbed from the front seat.
Sometimes dh has some computer stuff in the back seat that he's taking somewhere.
The trunk is organized with a stretchy cargo net. Dh does like to keep his big honking golf bag and clubs in the trunk along with the bags for his two pairs of golf shoes (his nice pair and an older pair to wear when the course is muddy)
We also have a "survival kit" that my mom gave us one year for Christmas. It has a first aid kit, one of those space reflective sheets, an air pump that plugs into the 12 volt adaptor, and some granola bars and water. We took them out when we moved away from the North, but we used to also have a couple of big blankets in case we got stranded.

Fairly bare. I keep a box of tissues, ice scraper, and umbrella within reach. The way back has a large bag of clothes for donation that I haven't dropped off yet. Other than a blanket and some emergency car stuff, that's it. The glove box has a phone charger and all the important papers you need to keep in your car.

glove compartment: gloves, owner's manual, hand sanitizer, handicap tag and paperwork for handicap tag (thankfully do not need it anymore but it does not expire for 2 more years so I keep it just in case.)
front- throw up bag, change, tweezers, safety thingy with alarm, flashlight, and window breaker
back- throw up bag, blanket, small tote with a couple books, extra throw up bags, small candies, and napkins
trunk- windshield ice cover that I have never used, ice scraper, several reusable shopping bags, roll of paper towels, a few umbrellas, and a quilt

Only cd's and Kleenex in the console and an umbrella in the back seat and insurance and registration papers in the glove box and a small special tool required to remove the wheels if ever necessary.

Too much! On the shelf thing in the middle of the front seats I have gum, pen and paper, car gloves, moisturizer, an EZPass (had to take it off the glass when we had to have the glass replaced and have never stuck it back up), miscellaneous coins, receipts, etc. On the front seat is choir music and a water bottle. We've taken out the seat that's directly behind the front-seat passenger, and the back row has been folded down. So we have this big cargo space that tends to fill up with stuff. At the moment are (just off the top of my head): -- reusable grocery store bags -- a jug of water for the dog -- portable dog bowl -- a few water bottles (these tend to migrate out there, then every once in awhile I gather them all up and bring them in the house) -- extra plastic grocery bags -- window cleaner -- paper towels -- box of granola bars -- dog biscuits -- sweatshirt for me -- kitty litter (we keep this in the winter in case we need it for traction on ice) -- snow scraper -- a couple old towels -- kleenex Those are all things we always carry (well in the summer we don't keep kitty litter and the snow scraper...lol) Extra stuff that's there at the moment are: -- about five bags heading for Goodwill -- a Costco-sized pack of toilet paper -- two grocery bags of non-perishable food that's heading for the food box at my church -- a large bag of dog food that I couldn't carry in with the other groceries I think that's it. oy... It's a wonder that there's room for the dog when she's in there. Well, actually she sits on the passenger seat right behind the driver so she doesn't care what else is in the van. lol eta: in my defense, lol, all the usual stuff (the stuff we carry all the time) is contained. So it's not like it's all rolling all over the van.

Right now it is stuffed to the gills with photography eqpt. I am heading north to photograph grade 12 grads at a rural high school. Two of us stay at a modest resort/hotel for the week to get all the photos done. That means I also have my personal stuff for the week, and we need backup eqpt. The eqpt includes poles and 3 rolled backgrounds that go from the back of the car to the dash on the passenger side. I am also taking cross country skis since we are staying at a ski resort.
Usually, when I am not carried work eqpt, I have my gps, kleenex, sunglasses and an extra name badge in case I forget to bring one. I also have a ice scraper and extra hat in the trunk, a small first aid kit and booster cables. Oh, and some window washer fluid. The glove compartment has the car manual, registration and insurance papers.

My old car...Expedition...always had baseball stuff in the way very back. It did not look messy because you couldn't see it,but I knew it was there. Drove me nuts.
Dd now has my precious Expedition. I miss that dang car so much. Sometimes on the weekends I take her for a ride just because I miss her. Her being the car.
My new car is a Chevy Silverado with the extended cab. I hate it. Dh bought it for himself and then decided it didn't work well in the parking garage at his work. So, he kept his honda that was supposed to go to dd, she got my baby, and got the truck.
It is too tight to have anything extra in it. We keep this truck sooo clean.

After driving mini-vans for years, I recently bought my son's car. The one deployed had a Honda Accord and decided to sell it so he could buy a truck post-deployment. I bought it from him and have had to adjust again to driving a small car after 25 years of vans and SUVs. So I am going minimalist in the car these days - umbrella, scraper, yoga mat, my Aldi's quarter, and two reusable shopping bags.

Mine's a mess, pretty much constantly. It really needs a good cleaning when spring hits.
I think if somoene saw it they would think my house was a mess, but my house is usually very clean and tidy. I just can't get myself to care what my car looks like too much.

Pretty much nothing. The manual is in the glove compartment and a microfiber cloth, insurance and registration, a pen, my business cards and a few paper towels are in the console. Oh, a Spider-Man folder with coupons/coupon book is in a storage compartment the hatch back area. Like an empty ride.

In the trunk: reusable grocery bags In the back: an umbrella and a scraper In the glove compartment: tissues, registration, owners manual, extra napkins In the center console: a book, phone charger, lug nut key, hand sanitizer, sunglass case In the ashtray: spare change and bills On the rear view mirror: two paper poppies bought from veterans Spare sunglasses in their own holder built into the roof Small plastic zombie lives in one of the door panel pockets and has ever since I got the car, for luck; other door panel holds quarters for Aldi cart only.

I just discovered the best keep clean solution....
My new truck has a huge center console. I pulled my old longarberger tissue box basket out of storage. Took the lid off and put it in the console. We use it as a trash can. It works perfectly. Plus, it is easy to grab out and dump. Before the kids used to stuff the door pockets with crap and it drove me nuts.
