I haven't watched American Idol for the past couple of years but since this is the final season I decided to give it a go ... after all, my gay boyfriend Adam Lambert got his start on that show It's been really good! There are some amazing performers and some of them are only 16 years old ... One even looks like a blonde Adam Lambert with "guy liner" and everything (Dalton) ... he's excellent in the way that he changes up songs ... kind of like Adam did This week I was in tears while Kelly Clarkson was performing because she sang a song she had written that was so moving and it totally resonated with me They've brought a bunch of previous AI stars back so I'm really hoping that Adam makes an appearance at some point Are you watching this final season?

I am watching it too. I was late to party and started watching when JLo started judging. I stopped watching during the Minaj/Maria nightmare - OMG was that awful television. I have been so happy with this trio of judges - they finally perfected it and I will miss the show.
ETA: in the 6-ish seasons I've watched, this is the overall best set of contestants, by far!

I've been watching, it's been a fun season so far. I'm a little sad it's over, but it is time. Kelly killed me with her song, it was a complete snapshot of my life. But then, she has always been my favorite.

Yes, I am watching it!!
I loved last weeks show with Kelly Clarkson. I have always enjoyed her and her humor. I thought she gave really great advice and feedback to the contestants. She totally had me in tears when she sang her song Piece by Piece. Wow!
There are some really great singers. I really liked Jenn (the blonde girl with the rhinestone eyebrows) my husband didn't like her singing AT.ALL. I kind of like the quirkiness of her voice.
I think LaPorsha is an amazing singer but, it's not the type of music that I listen to.
I really like singer songwriter type stuff.
I think Dalton is a really good performer.

We're watching this year. We like Dalton, LaPorsha and I forget her name! Dalton reminds me of a blond Adam Lambert. I'm sad to see this show go!

I think Dalton is a really good performer. Jenn reminds me of Bjork! And I love her music. Especially during her Sugarcubes years. I was sad to see her go because the show could have really helped her polish her sound a bit more. I am a Laporsha fan and would probably buy her music. But I'm very selective when it comes to R&B. I'm more in the singer/songwriter camp, too. But I listen to every genre of music depending on the artist. And I cried ugly when Kelly sang her song. I startled my guys. They had that freightened guy look on their faces, like, Oh crap! What do I do?! Lol She would have been an excellent judge on the show full time. She gave such great feedback. And she's always had that vivacious down to earth personality. I also find that I am enamored with Sonika's angelic voice. It always touches me to see her mom crying proudly in the audience.

I need to look on iTunes and see if that song is available. And I am loving this season but not sure who my favorite is yet.

I haven't watched since Season 10, but I decided to watch this year since it's the last season. I've been pleasantly surprised. I really like this group of judges, although I disagreed with some of their decisions. My favorites are Dalton, LaPorsha, and Trent. I also like Sonika and Mackenzie-I remember him from The Voice. It's been fun seeing some of the old Idols, loved Kelly's performance.

We are big fans and still watching. I am really liking Sonika, Dalton and LaPorsha. I wasn't a big fan of Jenn's, her voice hurt my ears.

I have loved AI since JLo, Keith and Harry became the judges. They are good together with great chemistry. It will be sad to see it end because of them.
This years talent is amazing and I'm enjoying watching them all.

Loving Dalton, and can't help thinking about Harry gushing over his pretty eyes during tryouts. He reminds me of David Cook in his singing style, performamces, and arranging the songs differently. (I realize Adam did that too, but Cook did it first). I agree Sonika has a beautiful voice, but not my style at all and not terribly original. Love the judges, will miss the Keith/Harry romance.

You are right! Loved Adam's version of Ring of Fire but not much can beat David's rendition of Billie Jean

My DDs recognized Dalton from when he was in IM5, so they've been watching AI just to see him. He is a cutie. I'll say that much!

I love when singers can mix up the songs.

And I am loving this season but not sure who my favorite is yet. Patter, I went right to iTunes to buy it but all I found was a version that sounded cheesy (to me) when compared to her live version, like electronic music instead of actual music and not as much emotion in her voice. Idk, it just didn't touch me at all in the iTunes version. Hopefully there's a live version somewhere - or she'll record one now!

I wish more artists would offer acoustic albums! I will look for both of her songs that y'all mentioned. Thanks again.

I could have written this myself (other than the gay boyfriend ~ haha) I enjoy Adam, but he wasn't a favorite of mine. I love Dalton's eyes! Swoon . . . I'm DVR'ing it and watching it back later so I don't have to watch commercials, or if I don't like a performance, I can ff it! I have caught myself becoming emotional a couple of times already just knowing that the end is in sight!

I'm watching sporadically but will try to watch more now I think. I watched a few of the auditions in various cities, I watched probably half of Hollywood week, and then I kind of stopped. But, I did watch the last episode with Kelly (whom I've always adored) and will try to keep up on it from now on. I used to love Idol, but like you Leanne, I stopped watching the last few years. I really want to watch this final season--it's so cool we know ahead of time that it's the final season.
Kelly made an awesome judge. She really put a lot of thought into every piece of advice she gave. You can tell she's been watching this kids. Girl can talk though!! I was worried the other judges would run out of time. She has so much to say and she's such a little motormouth. Anyway, she is adorable and so incredibly talented. My whole family watched her sing Piece by Piece and every one of us loved it. I will definitely be buying that CD.
I love a lot of the same contestants (past and present) that you guys do. I agree that Dalton is pretty dreamy--I think we ALL have little crushes on him. My favorite was always Chris Daughtry. I was so enamored of him back in the day. Loved his rendition of I Walk the Line (even though I know that wasn't his own arrangement--it was still cool). I also loved Blake (can't remember his last name) who did all the beat boxing. I loved his arrangement of You Give Love a Bad Name and also his performances of Time of the Season and Mack the Knife. Loved that kid!
I totally agree Elaine and often say the same thing. People will say "oh no, what about the Simon years?" Honestly, as entertaining as Simon was and how funny it was to see how out of it Paula would be, I didn't think those judges had their hearts in it or gave as good of feedback as this group. I think Keith, Jennifer and Harry are absolutely awesome together.

Blake Lewis, that was the beat boxer's full name. Yeah, he's one of my all-time favorites. Also, I wanted to add, I don't want to take away from those original judges. They were fun. Also, although Paula was sometimes out of it, I really did love her enthusiasm. I loved the way she almost always got up and danced while listening to the performances--just like she was at a concert. That was so endearing. And while watching her and Simon argue was entertaining at times, there is just something about this current group of judges. I think it's that they're all grown ups!
