Yes, use Waze app to get around. It will help with traffic. A Shake Shack is now open in West Hollywood. The lines are still insane, though. I prefer Google Maps to Waze. The directions are better. Google Maps gets traffic info from Waze to calculate drive times and it always chooses the fastest route, even if it isn't the shortest. I think Google Maps is a cleaner, easier to read app.

Hello! Angeleno (LA native) here. I've been slow to adopt Waze and mostly use google maps to get around, so that is an option. Just be aware that we're terrible, jerkface drivers who don't signal, haha. In all seriousness, do be careful about parking and look at the signs because there is A LOT of permit parking, especially in Hollywood. I recommend the metro if it's within 1 or 2 blocks of each destination, otherwise I wouldn't. For breakfast, definitely look into the Griddle Cafe in Hollywood for ridiculously massive pancakes, or my all-time breakfast favorite, the Pan in Gardena (in between LA and Long Beach). In N Out is a must. There are a lot of good places to eat in the Farmer's Market next to the Grove, which is a nice place to wander. Used to be a good place to shop, too, but it's gotten really high-end. I definitely agree with the Griffith Park recommendations! After Disney and Universal, Santa Monica Pier probably won't be that exciting; for a different way to experience it and the beach, maybe think of renting bikes to ride along the beach bike path? That's one of my favorite things to do. You can see Venice, Santa Monica, and Malibu, stop along the way, and experience the beach. Speaking of Universal, I just went a couple days ago and would say - resist the temptation to ride ALL of those 3D rides. OY! I was sick all night. Overall, have a GREAT time!
