Another police tragedy.
EULESS — A Euless officer and a suspect have been pronounced dead after the pair exchanged gunfire at J.A. Carr Park Tuesday afternoon. Police responded the scene after receiving reports of shots fired. At some point, there was an exchange of gunfire between the officer and suspect, who was hit multiple times. According to Sr. Cpl. Scott Peterson, a spokesman with Euless police, the officer was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in unknown condition and the suspect was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition. Authorities haven't disclosed the identities of the officer or the suspect. "We would just really ask for everyone's thoughts and prayers to be with [the officer] right now," Deck said. As a precaution, nearby Harmony Science Academy and Oakwood Terrace Elementary were placed on a lockdowns, which were lifted more than an hour after the incident. Please pray for his family, and their community.

When will this end? 15 officers killed in the line of duty is 15 too many. I thank God the my DH has retired, but have a foster son, who is now in law enforcement, and I make him text me when he gets home after every shift. If something goes down, he knows that his first phone call he makes needs to be to us (we act as his parents, even though he is an adult). Praying for this officers family, both blood and blue.

Our community just buried a 29 year old rookie police officer. She was on her first night of the job...FIRST NIGHT and was shot dealing with a domestic situation. So very, very sad.

It's been awful lately. You try not to think about it but it's hard not to when these deaths keep happening. I just saw one about a young officer who'd proposed recently and now his fiancée will be planning a funeral instead of a wedding. ETA: I was on my phone earlier and didn't click the link; this is the same officer I was referring to. Between him and Officer Guindon, my heart is so heavy these past few days. There is so much hate for police right now, but the reality is that the majority of officers are willing to give up their lives for people that couldn't care less about theirs. It's disgusting and maddening.

Heartbreaking. RIP, Officer David Hofer. And may your officers stay safe, all of you with active law enforcement officers still in the family. ETA my Likes on your posts were sympathy Likes, not happy Likes.

I saw that on Blue Lives Matter. He transferred from NYPD and was newly engaged. At least the shooter is also dead.

I saw this come across the WFAA page I follow. So incredibly sad. My heart just breaks for his fiancee.

Hearing these always makes my stomach lurch. My BIL was shot in the line of duty several years ago. He was critical but survived, and now is a member of the honor guard and crisis team. That phone call in the middle of the night is every LEO family's worst nightmare. His wife fainted when the detectives came to the door to get her.
My prayers go out to the families and fellow officers of the deceased. They are heroes.
