We were supposed to pick up our new to us car on February 20th. But we had a delay with a stock sale and the transfer of the funds. Due to scheduling issues on both ends the first appointment we were able to get was for tomorrow. I got an email 20 minutes ago saying that they just realized that the car arrived with rock dents in the hood and they want to replace the hood before we take delivery. And that it will take a week or so to get it done. I know we screwed up the first appointment, but in theory they have had the car since at least the 20th, if not before and they just realized tonight that there was an issue?!?! We are gifting my current car to my parents as they are down to one car and they really need a second car and have been so patient waiting for it. My mom was so excited that we were going to drop it off tomorrow night and sounded so relieved when we talked about it earlier today. We do have a third car, but I have to drive in San Francisco on Saturday and it is a Suburban, which is the last thing I want to drive up there and I can't take dh's car.
And I'm also stressing because I am due with baby #3 on March 27th, my last baby was 10 days early. I want to have this over and done with before the baby arrives, since we both have to go to the pickup and I just don't want to have to try to reschedule again. Appointments are at 4pm during the week or on weekends. We have events every weekend day till this baby comes and dh had already scheduled to take off early for tomorrow - since the dealership is 30-45 minutes away.
So really not the end of the world, but really, really annoying.

Being pregnant magnifies everything. I hope it all works out for you. Maybe this baby will cook longer. Both of my kids were late/induced so I am feeling rather jealous of someone who had an early baby!

Sorry it's not working out. But congratulations on your upcoming deliveries (baby and car!).
ETA: I feel your pain about driving a suburban in SF. I had to drive our 4x4 truck there once {shudder}. It was either the automatic 4x4 or the stick shift car. I chose the truck because of all the hills. :/

can you get a rental car for a few days? We could, but I'll survive. I just drive the Suburban as little as possible because it is in almost every way the opposite of my current car - a prius - and is just so dang huge. And I'm sure that if I explained to my parents they would tell me to just wait. But I know they need my car desperately and I know I will be fine driving the suburban for a couple days. It is just annoying. I don't understand how they didn't notice the chips/dents till 5 o'clock tonight. But I guess that it is nice that we will be getting a brand new hood out of it. The other odd thing was that the car was listed as a local car. But in the email the guy said that the chips are a common issue with cars coming from the North East. Now I'm worried about salt damage and the like too, which would never occurred to me since I assumed it was a California car so that wouldn't have been a problem. Silver lining, I know the company has crazy good customer service and we have another car on order from them (a new one) that will be coming sometime in the fall. And their main plant isn't far so if we have issues I do think they will take good care of us. I was just so excited to be finally getting the car tomorrow. Like i said...total first world vent. But I do appreciate the sympathy and the comments!
