The post last week about Fruit Flies came at a good time for us! We have them. I've used the apple cider/dishwashing detergent mix. I've also poured bleach down the sink. We actually went through the house and did all of the drains and have a dish by each sink. How long should I leave the dishes out? So, how long before the flies are truly gone? TIA!

Move any fruit or other food into the fridge or a covered container, too. We got them and couldn't get rid of them until we stopped leaving fruit (especially thin skin stuff like peaches and tomatoes) out in our fruit bowl.
I leave a small mason jar of the mixture out for good now, I have a bay window in my kitchen so I can keep it semi-hidden.

I did move the fruit. We don't have any food on the counter. I hope it's just I'm not being patient, but ick..............
I did pour more bleach down the drains this morning. My dh said that maybe there were eggs someplace and that's what has hatched.
Thanks!

We had a bad case earlier this summer. It took several days for them to disappear. Since we have tons of summer produce out on the counters right now, I just constantly keep a cup of the vinegar/dawn combo out all the time. I just replace it a couple times a week.

We'll keep changing out the little bowls of solution until fall sometimes. We keep so much produce on our counters and during the warm weather months the fruit flies are a bit of a nuisance from about late July through at least Sept.
