Any ideas? I am doing a class on dorm room meals. Of course I had to see what amazing ideas the Peas have.
Microwave, Fridge and basic utensils.
Thanks, Jen

The first thing that came to mind is the trendy mason jar meals. A quick Google search shows gobs of ideas - they look delicious and they're kind of artful lol.

Years ago, at the Scholastic Book Fair, there was a book called "A man, a can, and a plan", it contained a lot of simple recipes. I got one for my nephew who was in college at the time. He said he made quite a few recipes with it.
There is also Can Opener Gourmet

Hubby would make grilled cheese on a stir crazy popcorn popper. Ramen, soups, Mac & cheese, hot dogs can be made in a hot pot.

My son used a George Foreman grill, made hamburgers on it. The microwave obviously for everything else.

Rice Krispy bars and all of those single serve cake or cookie in a mug microwave recipes that are all over Pinterest! Dessert is its own food group in my world!

one of my favorite meals used to be those ham slices you can buy, just had to be microwaved. I would make the cheap dollar pasta pouch side dishes to go with it! I thought I was fancy stuff lol!

Dorm room meals as in a traditional dorm or with a stove and a real refrigerator with a real freezer?
DS is in a traditional dorm room with a microwave and small freezer/fridge combo. He had a night class last semester and didn't want to eat dinner at 4 am. And it got expensive to use his flex dollars for the few places that were open after 8 pm. He ate a lot of sandwiches and soups. At Christmas, I froze some meals for him in quart sized zip bags and sent them back with him.
I'd focus on microwavable meals for a traditional dorm. If they have access to a real stove/fridge/freezer, crock pot meals and George Foreman meals would be good.

Pioneer Woman had an episode on this, since her daughter is in college now. One thing that stood out was a doctored-up bowl of ramen with lots of fresh veggies. I think a mason jar salad was another one of the items. I can't remember what else, but they all looked tasty.

I like the single serve Triple Cheese Easy Mac tubs. They taste the closest to the Kraft Mac and Cheese from my youth. The cheese doesn't taste quite the same as it used to taste.
I like those bags of flavoured noodles--Knorr brand? I also like the Stove Top stuffing.
Some girls in my dorm would get fresh meat at the grocery down the street and fry up stir fry in an electric fry pan. We were only allowed to have a hot pot in our rooms, so they would take the pan down to the vending machine room.
We did a lot of grilled cheese on our irons.
I kept a lot of apples and ate them with peanut butter and caramel dip.
I love popcorn with microwave caramel sauce. Smucker's has a great salted caramel sauce that gets nice and thin when it's hot. Makes the best caramel popcorn. I mix it with cheese popcorn for Chicago style.

I am so happy that ds will have a full kitchen in his dorm room! At least a cooktop, many rooms have ovens as well.
