What is up with the scrapbooking world and the color purple or the non-existence of anything purple, especially patterned paper?
I made a page about the grapes in my backyard recently and had to use green embellishments and purple cardstock because either I don't buy purple things for some reason, or scrapbook companies don't make things in purple in the first place.
Maybe purple should become the new pink, I'm getting tired of pink everything.
I like purple and I approve this message.

I don't know but I sure have enough purple in my stash to make due for anything really. Given my experience at Michaels yesterday there isn't much of anything in any color.

Fancy pants used to have several lines that featured purple. I may know because I'm hoarding them. I sadly hardly ever have a need for purple paper, but I am keeping it just in case! Maybe I need to start making my loved ones where more purple so I can use my purple stash.

Even eggplant colored cardstock can be hard to come by. I stocked up when I found some.

I just did a ROYGBIV style PL layout and had so little purple it was sad. It's my favorite color but it's never been super popular. I joke that people can't handle the awesomeness.

Maybe purple should become the new pink, Agreed! I like purple and I approve this message. Ditto!! I, too, love purple and have trouble really finding much in embellishments. I snagged up some purple paper flowers a couple months back when I saw them on clearance. I use purple and lavender sequins on my pages. There's gotta be purple enamel dots. But I do have trouble finding the right shade of purple (not eggplant, but not Easter egg pastel either) in pattern paper.

I like purple and I approve this message. Me too. It's especially hard to find a nice purple. It looks great with gold and grey, it should totally be the new trendy color.

In the past, I remember Purple being the color many people said they had trouble figuring out how to use. My university's colors included purple, and it's my husband's favorite color so I tend to have and use a lot of it. But even when I find it, it tend to be "flowery." Not so good for college football pictures.

There was a WRMK line last year that had quite a lot of purple in it...Hello Darling, maybe?
This question comes up fairly regularly, and has since i started scrapping over 10 years ago. It is my belief that a few factors play into this decision by scrapbooking companies to exclude purple for the most part.
1) And some people may disagree with this one, but a lot of shades of purple are hard to use, especially for scrapping pictures of people. I find a lot of purples make photographs of people look sallow, which is not a flattering look. I know, I know purple is my daughter's favourite colour; she even has purple streaks in her hair and that is all fine, but scrapping photos with it, not so much...I don't personally love to wear yellow, but it is a great scrapping colour (for me anyway).
2) Different shades of purple don't work well together. I remember back in the day trying to find purple cardstock to match some PP on a layout, yeah, good luck with that! There seemed to be so many shades and tones of purples, but they needed to be an exact match or it looked off somehow. It also seems to fade terribly. My purple cardstocks always seemed to fade )when I used to keep my CS out in my desk setup, than the other colours.
3) This is pure speculation but perhaps it is a colour that doesn't sell well, so the manufacturers don't invest as much into putting itout. I know lots of people don't like pink, but let's face it, pink sells...

I so agree, purple/lavender colors are so hard to find. Bo Bunny has a new collection with purple. I used their Enchanted Garden collection a couple of years ago and it had pretty purples in it.

I totally agree that it's one of the hardest colors to match. If you have one that's too red and another that's too blue, it just looks awful. Once I had to change an entire layout because I only had one piece of purple paper and I needed two, and absolutely nothing matched.

I have this same complaint - purple is my sister's and daughter's favorite color and I'm always looking for cute papers and embellishments - but all you can find is baby stuff or Easter stuff. I've had more luck finding purple items in digital scrapbooking supplies - but it's still a bit hard to find.

I struggle with finding purple also. My DD has lupus and purple is the color for lupus awareness so I do quite a few purple pages for her lupus walks and fund raising events. I do wish it was easier finding purple paper and purple embellishments.

I tried to do something similar for a thank you card (with a rainbow on it) and I had the toughest time. I also discovered in that process that I have NO purple washi, which surprised me. I have a lot of washi!

My favorite color is pink and purple is a CLOSE second. I even have a grape purple KitchenAid stand mixer and a pink KitchenAid hand mixer.
And yes, not enough TRUE pink, much pink cardstock is slightly peach and so not enough of any shade of purple.

My TM closed and the closest one is about 40 minutes away. 1601965 is for the Bazzill Bling. It says BZCS 12 x 12 Bling 25S. So I think it could mean any Bazzill Bling. I know that the plain Bazzill card stock was one number off 1601966 and I have lots of packs that share that number.

They both said they just couldn't do that that and went to the silver and blue school. Their dad worked at the silver and blue school, but hearing them tell other people that was funny.

I'm not saying it will always be the correct color or tone, but don't forget to check out Halloween and Fall collections when you are looking for purple paper. Most of them include that color and often the back sides will be a neutral pattern. Just a thought.
