Ok my dd is getting married in may. Its an evening wedding. .. Its in las vegas where she lives... Does any one want to help me find a dress that not too old ladyish? classy but still fun.... I'm 5'7 and a size 8 if that helps... Her favorite colors are turquoise, gray.... etc. she has a maid of honor and 3 bridesmen... maybe a silvery dress? or gray? long is fun... but could be open to short annabella.... where are you? |

Have you looked at Modcloth.com? Their dresses look beautiful, but I have not personally tried them yet! Many of them are sleeveless which is not a look for me but they are sooooo pretty!

I got my Mother of the groom dress at Nordstrom. It was such a great experience! I did the free stylist so I could have plenty of help and I got the debit card they have because you can get up to $100 of alterations back in the form of Nordstrom bucks (basically a gift card) and was so happy with the whole experience. I had really delayed getting a dress too. I waited until about 3 or 3.5 weeks before the wedding.

I love the idea of Modcloth and have ordered a few times, but always end up disappointed. Their stuff skews young and I have found that the quality isn't that great. The stuff looks amazing on my 15 year old daughter though  I second trying Nordstrom. Turn yourself over to someone else and try to have fun with it. Plus, they will be a one stop shop for the undergarments you will need, shoes, etc. Good luck Edited to add: the last time I had an occasion (Gala at the library where I work) I rented a gown through "Rent the Runway" and it went surprisingly well. Check it out! If it matters, I'm 5'7" and a size 8 as well |

My daughter is getting married in a few weeks and I bought my dress from Alfred Angelo. She purchased her wedding gown there and they have a lot of beautiful dresses.

Do you have any must haves? short sleeve, v neck, A line, covered back, covered stomach ... I am looking at Rent the Runway and there are a lot of possibilities but just want to narrow down the choices!

I got mine from JCrew. My dd also got her dress & the bridesmaids dresses from them.
Mine is the Tessa in slate blue. It's knee length with cap sleeves & its silk.
Her venue is outdoor with barn reception. Even if she'd picked a more formal location I wouldn't have picked a long dress. Just not my style & I'm short.

I was reading reviews and people saying there were self tanner stains on the dress. etc. I feel like its one thing if your friend wears it, but so many strangers wear those clothes and apparently guys wear them too. Its kinda weird for me to digest. |

I had great luck at Macy's. I was in a panic because DH had major surgery and I had to find a dress in the couple days before that, because I knew I'd have no time after.
Remember - dresses can be altered. I bought a long dress and had it cut off to tea length. I ordered six pairs of shoes from Zappos, picked one, and returned the rest.

i can't see any particular dress? I didn't point to any particular dress since I know nothing about you (coloring/shape/style etc.). My friend got her MOB dress there and it was beautiful and of good quality. The link lets you know what they have available. We have a store locally, so she was able to see the type quality the store offered. The local store didn't have her dress, so she ordered from the website. |

I took my 2 best girlfriends and we spent the day shopping. We started at Dillards, then hit the "fancy" stores. Ended up back at Dillards, buying the 2nd dress I'd tried on.
The key for me was to actually try on a ton of dresses, with the foundation garments, too. Having honest friends helped, too.
I don't think I could've done it online.

I was at one of their stores this week to get a formal dress for a wedding. They always give excellent customer service.

Check out Adrianna Papell dresses. Dillard's is a great place to find them, but many stores carry the brand. I have a daughter getting married in May also. I found a dress at Macy's and bought it, but I am still looking just in case I find something better. I need something in gold for a morning wedding in FL and gold is not as easy to find right now. The one I found is in the store, but not the website.

The dresses I've gotten were all clean and you get a 2nd size free. My friend used that site for her bridesmaids dresses and they sent the dress to her sister in advance to try on, then return then borrow again for only one fee just to be sure it fit her larger size. I'll look around and post some links for you. |
