so, last night I was watching TLC and saw commercials for the new show premiering next Tuesday, "Counting On" starring the Duggar girls and their families... and this morning, I saw a Yahoo news story that said Josh Duggar just left rehab. How convenient! Just in time for the new show to premiere, and perhaps get higher ratings due to the inevitable media coverage about the whole thing!!   (or is that just my cynicism showing??  ) |

I wish they would just go away. They aren't showing a good testimony like they've fooled themselves into thinking. People think they're a joke, and they are. Why is it that the worst acting "Christians" are the main ones putting themselves out there? Duggars, Westboro Church, megapastors.
I read about the new Duggar spinoff in People or Ok--they were on the cover. One of the girls had her hand stuck out in a weird angle so you could see it. She had on a humongous Hermes bracelet. Yeah, they're just doing this to "further the name of Christ"...

Ok, so there are a lot of things I don't understand about this whole mess, but my most recent confusion is...
Why did Anna go live with HIS family while Josh went to rehab? I would think most women in her position would choose to go home to their own families - not the family of the straying/disgusting spouse. I can't imagine her family not immediately bringing her home to take care of her and her kids. If this is a 'religious' choice, then I can add that to the list of things I don't understand...

Yikes! It sounds like his rehab was more about her being a dutiful wife. I really do not understand this particular family/Christian lifestyle at all. I guess I feel like they would be better off as a family not to be in the lime light. i think they should be just living their lives and trying to deal with their family issues. Being in the spotlight does nothing to help them and instead just magnifies and complicates their problems. That being said if there are enough people who watch their show, and they are not doing anything legally wrong...ehhh who am I to complain. Thankfully we are in the TV age where I definitely have enough choices where I don't have to watch anything I don't want to. Now if we were back when I was a kid and only got 2 stations, sometimes 3 if the weather was just right...then I might have to complain a little more.   |

I feel like many of the kids (and Anna) have no other means for income and this was a fast pass.
That part of it is very sad to me. I hope Anna isn't pregnant.

The DIY laundry soap has been quite a topic of discussion on a laundry/cleaning facebook group I am in. Those that use it are finding that their clothes are getting stinky and never clean. They now do a "strip", where they soak their clothes in a bathtub that has hot water, borax, and maybe Dawn? They let it set for a bit and the water is absolutely black. It is GROSS. GROSS GROSS GROSS. Turns out the homemade laundry soap isn't such great idea. |

I totally agree with you, however I don't believe that it something that my views should regulate. If enough people don't watch it they won't show it. But I would also wouldn't run shows like the Kardashians, the real housewives, the bachelor, the 700 club, and many others if it was up to me. |

I had no doubt that the Duggars were going to find their way back to tv. if there is money to be made for the network, they will put them on air. if there are people who will watch and be available to the show sponsors, they will put them on air. money, the bottom line is money.

I wonder what the parents are doing with all that money? They seem self sufficient and frugal, and not the type to upgrade houses. Are they splitting the money with the kids? I know Jessa and Jill really need that money so I don't fault them for doing the show.

Unfortunately, all of the Duggar kids learned that thou must procreate as much as possible, the women should stay at home, and the kids should be home-schooled. The girls in that family don't have too many skills and they will be popping out 10+ babies each. It worked for Michelle and Jim Bob beacuse they were already wealthy. The kids are not. The only way they can support their lifestyles is to stay in the spotlight and score TV and book deals.

I don't keep up with these people, but I have heard enough about them to know I would find it super enjoyable if she WAS pregnant and the baby was obviously fathered by someone other than Jailbird Josh. If that were the case I'm sure Anna would be shunned by both his and her families and if the law allowed it probably stoned to death. Josh would be allowed to divorce her I'm sure where as she's stuck with him no matter what he does.
