I'm from GA and we have/make:
Sweet tea- iced, not hot, and so sweet your fillings will hurt Peach cobbler - with fresh whipped cream or home churned ice cream (I make a really good one) Pecan Pie - puhcahn pie best served in tiny wedges with unsweetened whipped cream and hot coffee with a shot of whiskey in it 'Nana Pudding - vanilla pudding served with Nilla wafers and bananas. (Not a favorite of mine, but DH could eat his weight in it) Fried apple pies - a boarding house staple my grandma always made. Dehydrated apples soaked overnight in apple juice, flavored with sugar and cinnamon and the juice is thickened to a pie filling consistency. Roll out a cheap canned biscuit until thin, fill with filling, fold in half and seal. Fry until dough is deep brown but not burned. So good they'd bring tears to your eyes. Rumored to be how Grandma caught her second husband. LOL Krispy Kreme - the way a donut should be made! Funnel cakes - served at carnivals and fairs. Batter is dropped in hot grease thru a funnel into a circle. Served with powdered sugar and maybe a topping of some sort of pie filling
My DH would tell you that, to him, the best Southern treat was Shower Punch. For years, this was served at every shower I went to and I always brought him back a glass. Lime sherbet, ginger ale or 7 Up, maybe a little orange juice and/or pineapple juice. It was frothy and sweet and he felt like he was being sneaky, getting a taste of a treat from an event that, at the time, was primarily for women. LOL I've made it for him at home but it just wasn't as good as the somewhat purloined cupfulls.
My DH is from CT and when we went for a visit, we'd always go to Franklin Ave in Hartford to the Italian bakery there. OMG! Cannolis, rum cakes, and the cookies! Wow!

I'm in SW Wisconsin and growing up my aunts went nuts when they came to town because they could get poppyseed bread from the local bakeries here. I've never heard of anyone else going crazy over it, but it does seem to be a regional treat.

Way back when we had Marshall Fields on State Street in Chicago, they produced Frango Mints. Little bits of luscious melt in your mouth orgasmic pleasure. That good. They moved production elsewhere and changed the formula. Now they are frustrating teases that come up short. Disappointing.
