:-( It definitely takes a brave soul to put their life on the line for others. I'm thankful for them too.

I am also thankful for them....if you are in law-enforcement, it's for the love of the job, to serve and protect, because there certainly isnt a huge salary involved. I have the highest respect for all of them. My 19 year old, 5ft2inch, 105lb daughter is entering the police academy in July. She graduates in june with a degree in criminal justice...i am so proud of her, but i am also scared to death! Its not the same job it was when her pop-pop walked the beat 50 years ago

I saw this posted on a police wives Facebook page. Brought tears to my eyes. Touching tribute to the officer and events. Hubby is a retired fatality crash investigator, and our oldest son is a detective now. He was shot 7 times back in 2006. A momma never gets that call, those words, the sounds, the ride to the hospital, the support, the love and the brotherhood. Turns my stomach to this day.

I'm so proud of my husband, he goes above and beyond. Tonight is a perfect example, he met us for dinner before his checkpoint. A little girl saw him walking in and got all exctied. He waved and played peek a boo all through dinner with her. Before they left he ran to his car to get her stickers. The little girl was over the moon, her dad said she loves police officers and always tells people to be nice to them... Love the little moments.

So thankful for their selfless service and hope we don't forget their sacrifice. I have several former students now in law enforcement in PG and Montgomery Counties and I worry for them.

Those are the things that scare me as my son makes the transition from Marines to LE.
