I have been purging my stash and was considering scanning old diecuts I have had since the 90's to use for making cut files on my cameo. They are in weird colors I will never use but I do like the shapes. I was also considering doing the same with some old sticker sheets that I might get around to using one day. I don't want to trash items I spent hard earned money on, but at the same time I doubt I will ever actually use them and they are just cluttering up the place. Has anyone done this yet?
I do have a stash of the paper piecing pages from the old scrapbook magazines that I have scanned. I have used those on my old craft robo to make cut files. I guess I am on a scan and purge binge right now, I am also scanning my kids artwork, certificates, school paper, etc to save for potential use on layouts in their books. I just need to get rid of all this stuff I have been saving.

I don't have my cameo anymore (switched to digital scrapbooking) but when I had it I did that with some of my stuff. Actually now that I'm converting my old pages to digital I scan things in the use off the old pages quite a lot, I think it's a great use of old supplies.
I have similar plans for my sons artwork this year too. Last year all I had was a huge tote of unorganized artwork and school papers. Went through them and kept only about a quarter, sorted by year, and tossed the rest. Now I'm going to either scan or photograph what's left and do a simple photo book of it, then toss most of the originals (maybe just keep 1 or 2 pieces from each year).
I actually have some stuff from my school years many years ago that my mom had kept that I'm planning to do the same with. The originals are falling apart (some are fading, some had water damage) I think keeping a digital copy will preserve it better.

Its a good idea if you think you'll use what you scan. If not, it would just be wasting your time.

I'm one of those people that has a hard time letting go of something I think may have a purpose down the road. Thank my depression era parents for that way of thinking! I just scanned the stickers and die cuts and they are all in a big baggie for my nieces. They are gonna love this Easter freebie. It didn't take that long. Now I just have to learn how to do print and cut on the Cameo!

I can't even manage to organize my photos into a system I am happy with, much less scan supplies...lol

I've sold a bunch of sizzix dies over the years. Before I sold them I cut them out so I could scan them later. One of these days I will.

At the beginning of the year, I started scanning in one-off PL cards I thought I would want to use again. It took longer than I wanted to spend and I haven't wanted to go back to them. I printed a few and the colors weren't as clear/bright as the originals. Print and cut is pretty handy for this, though! If you're super attached it might be a good use of your time. For me, it allowed me to use those supplies guilt free and I learned the lesson that I wouldn't miss them so I don't do it anymore.
