This season they have a "blind runway" where the judges don't know which outfit was done by which designer. Do they switch models each time so the judges don't know? They never talk about it but I guess they have to do this or they would know who was who by the model. I can never remember which model goes with the designer so I can't tell if they switch or not. Anyone know the answer to this very important question?

I think they keep the same models... so good point about the judges knowing which model is wearing whar designer... except the guest judges... never thought of that

Can the judges see the designers as the show is going on? It looks like they are across the runway From each other. If so – it has to be a dead giveaway when the designers start patting each other on the back as their models walk down the runway…

I remember from an earlier season of the regular project runway that the models actually walk twice. Once for the designers, once for the judges. Not sure if that's true. I find it hard to believe that after a few challenges, the judges don't figure it out.

Some will even say "Nice so-and-so". Lisa D.

Especially last night, Alyssa was at Mood while they picked their fabric plus she was in workroom when designers switched fabrics. No way she didn't know.

So I am just now watching the first episode of this season. When she announced the blind runway one of the things she very clearly stated was for them to either make sure of, or watch out for their signature style. SO I took that as in if you have a distinct style make sure it's too your benefit. To me it shows that they are wanting to recognize the designers through the work the send down the runway.

I wondered that myself a while ago and questioned it here. I remember someone saying that they do walk twice.
But I agree - they would have to get a sense of who's stuff is who's after a while, right? Plus, like someone said, this isn't like the seasons of long ago when the designers picked their models every week. Since they're getting the same girl every week, not too tough to figure out who made what.

I think they just claim it's a "blind runway" so they can claim that the designers are judged on their work and not on who they are (this season is proof that's a lie obviously since there are quite a few who've made it through with trash over talented designers because obviously the judges want them to win).
I can't decide who I want to win because at this point it's more about who I want to go home!

I had the same question but this week I noticed that the model who wore the "Rapunzel" look last week was wearing Ken's design this week. I haven't paid attention to the other episodes, but I *think* they change models, but don't make it a big point to show they're actually changing the model they work with.

They used to show the model selection process on PR, and then later, there was an after show that focused on the models.
The winning designer from the week used to get first pick among the models - either to keep the same one or to switch. After the winner selected, they used the button bag to select the order to choose models. Most people kept the same model, but others (those unhappy with a model) would change and/or try to sabotage someone by taking their favorite model.
I haven't watched all of this season, but I follow Dom on Facebook and she posts her final look each week. Her models are not always the same from week to week.

I read that they do walk twice. Dress rehearsal for the designers where they can comment and speak. Then they walk for the judges "blind". They switch models each challenge. I miss the days of the designers choosing models..there was great drama then lol.
