My wonderful sister-in-law/best friend is in need of some prayers. She had a hysterectomy a few weeks ago and they nicked her bowel in three places. She's had two surgeries to repair and drain the damage.
Her road to recovery is very rocky right now. She is such a special lady to many people. Please think of her and pray she gets well soon.
Thanks!
Nicole

She's finally improved enough to be out of the ICU! Tomorrow will mark her third week in the hospital almost a month after her original surgery. She's in amazing spirits after all she's been through. She's got drain tubes everywhere in her abdomen and other things that they are watching close. She was able to walk a little today, sit in a chair, eat a little, etc ... Baby steps! Thanks for the all the prayers and continuing to pray for her. (I also posted this on the thread).

SIL is continuing to make baby steps toward getting better. She's still in the hospital (almost 5 weeks) and got out of intermediate ICU yesterday. We are so grateful! She's gotten a few drain tubes out and a new one in last week. A CT scan Monday will determine if any more can come out or new ones are needed.
Her big thing now is re-learning to eat. She's had almost nothing in her stomach for 5 weeks. Nothing sounds good to her. When something does sound good, she gets a bite or two, then the muscles inher stomach contract and she has to stop.
the family is rallying together to try to make sure she always have someone with her ...problem is, she lives 3 hours away from everyone! No family/ SO where she lives, just a few work friends. We've done pretty good so far. Wed & Thur this week were the first time in a month someone couldn't be there. I called and texted with her several times and chatted w/nurses to make sure she was doing good.
so, our jobs this weekend us to get her to eating! (Then get more drain tubes out next week) if that happens, she may be able to get out of the hospital next week. It is so good to hear those updates from the doc instead of the other kind ...
She still has quite a journey ahead. She's still very weak, in quite a bit of pain and her stomach is now a road map of scars. But, we can see improvement and she wants to get well so bad!
Thanks for the Pea Prayers so far and if you can send a few more for her, that would be awesome!
***** update 8/23 SHE'S HOME!****
After 47 days in the hospital, and 6 weeks after her original surgery, she is home!
She is still on IV antibiotics, and a few other meds, but she is such a determined lady!
She still has some pain and gets fatigued very easy, but seeing her smile last night as she sat on her couch in her living room was awesome! She has two cats and she was so happy to see them. They were just as happy to see her!
She is having a little trouble gaining back her appetite and battling an upset stomach, but she's trying so hard! We play a crazy game all day long where I make 1,000 suggestions of food ideas and MAYBE one MIGHT sound good to her. We'll keep on trying!
She has tests next week and may be able to get her PICC line out then.
Thank you all so much for your support and prayers for her during all of this! She's got a ways to go, but she's determined to get there! Pea Prayers are an amazing thing!
*****update 9/5 *****
Sorry it's been a while since I last updated.
She was home less than 24 hours and we had to take her back to the hospital. The first hospital pushed her out WAY too early. They took her off of the fluids and IV food way too soon. She couldn't eat, drink or keep anything down. She wasn't for most of the week before they sent her home. :-( Within that first day she couldn't keep her pain meds, water or food down. She was in pain because she couldn't take her meds and vomiting. So, back we went.
She spent a week in a new hospital again and they added drain back in. When the hospital released her this time, we had her taken to a skilled nursing facility that is 10 minutes away from where we live! Sure beats the 3 hours we were having to drive several times a week.
She's been down here for a week now and her latest CT scan looked good and the last drain came out.
She's still not eating great and is on IV antibiotics. We're hoping her appetite pick up soon. Once we get over those hurdles ... Also, the nursing place has Physical and Occupational Therapy. The hospital had none. Basically once you can go to the bathroom by yourself, they sign off of you. SHM.
So, prayers an positive thoughts are still appreciated! She's been at this now for 57 days.
