I'm in Southern Ontario - my little town has been labelled the "epicenter" of the ice storm Wednesday/Thursday. It is so beautiful out my back window (we look onto a small bush) - but with that beauty came such damage. SO many giant trees are down all over the township. The buzz of chainsaws can be heard far and wide. But at least my neighbours behind us waited until after 8am this morning to get started! Our community has rallied around those who need help. The local Facebook pages are full of offers of warm homes & places to charge things if needed. Residents have been taking coffee to the hydro workers out in the weather. How did the rest of the Ontario Refupeas fare? ETA - this story hit Huffpost today - I saw it on a local page yesterday. Syrian Refugee jumps in to help outAnd some photos from my neck of the woods - none are my own:

We were fine. We, in Toronto, got a blip of what everyone west of us got.
My yard is still a touch icy but the kids love walking on it. It's like cracking crime brûlée!

I have friends in the Elmira, Listowel & Stratford areas. Some have had no power for 3 days.
In Niagara we had ice pellets & rain. My building has backup generators.

I'm east of toronto. Wasn't that bad. I was prepared though. I was expecting like the 2013 storm we got and thankful it wasn't. Today you could here the lawns cracking and all the ice falling off the trees.

I'm about a half hour north of Listowel and we got essentially nothing to speak of here in town. The power did go out a few times but two or three hours was the longest and that was through the night.

I almost drove through your area today! You got hit much harder than I did. We had a day of freezing rain but it was so mild the next day that it all melted.

Anyone have any idea how badly London got hit? My whole family's there and I haven't talked with them. I don't think they got anything. We went through London en route to Stratford yesterday, and the ice didn't appear til we were almost outside Stratford city limits, about 30-45 minutes past London.

Glad you're all safe! Yes, ice storms are lovely and dangerous at the same time. Hopefully lots of surrounding towns are coming in to help you all get power back on. I remember after we had a huge storm a few years ago and were out of power for a week, the Canadians were like knights in shining armor as they came right to my neighborhood to work on our power.

Have had texts from dd several times in the last day, and no mention of ice. Photos of the little guy playing in the puddles was all.

we got hit pretty good with ice here just outside of KW - although the city didn't get it too bad. Surrounding areas had lots of trees down though & we were without power off & on for a couple days

Not too bad - nothing compared to Christmas 2014 when we were without power for 6 days.

We didn't get it too badly here. There were some short power outages across our town, but not in our neighbourhood. We had some tiny branches come down from our big tree, but nothing major. The rising temperatures throughout the day plus the rain the next day pretty much melted the ice. It was cool to hear the ice melting though and see it falling like sheets of broken glass from the trees. We went to my sister's in Waterloo for Easter brunch on Saturday and I was surprised by how much ice they still had. They must have gotten much more than we did. It made the trees, bushes and fences crystalline. i couldn't resist stopping for a few photos along the way.
