Hi everyone! I am back from Florida. For Easter, I used the regular oven for the first time in a while and made scalloped potatoes and Vidalia Onion Pie from the fresh onions we brought back from FL as sides to our ham. And Monday was leftovers. I did make a gallon's worth of yogurt - which strains down to about 2 quarts - in the Instant Pot. Yesterday, I made Butter Chicken (Indian) in one pressure cooker and rice in the other. And this morning I hard-boiled eggs in my Instant Pot, since I needed a couple to add to my ham salad made with the leftover ham. It was the first time I've tried them in the pressure cooker and they came out perfect - no gray! How is everyone doing? What new recipes? I gave my aunt whom I stay with when I'm in Michigan, and who is an amazing foodie, a pressure cooker (I can't repay her for all her kindness during all my medical treatment). She has been loving it and her adult daughter - my age - who lives near her has now also bought one. They have been converted to the delights of pressure cooking.

Welcome back Elaine! Hope you had a nice vacation. One of these days I'd like to try to make yogurt. Do you need to have the instant pot for that? I just have a regular electric pressure cooker with no pre-sets or pressure/temp adjustments. Today i just did hard boiled eggs, and mashed potatoes last week. nothing terribly exciting.

We love vacationing in Florida! Thanks. In order to make yogurt in a pressure cooker, you need one with a yogurt setting - otherwise it will run too hot. Instant Pot 7-1 models and Fagor Lux models each have yogurt settings - there may be a few other models. It is easy to make yogurt in a crockpot and oven if you are interested - you can either google it or I can walk you through it. It is just MUCH easier to do it all in the Instant Pot. Hard-boiled eggs and mashed potatoes are good!

I finally got an instant pot! We've had so many expenses lately, it's been sitting in my Amazon cart since Christmas. Tonight I made Mongolian Beef with chow main noodles and broccoli which was really quite great for a first attempt. After the kids go to bed, I am going to make a cheesecake in it, and try hard boiling eggs. I want to pressure cook everything! The best part was getting rid of so many other appliances- Steamer, rice cooker, crock pot (which was on its last legs) and yogurt maker. So much cupboard space .

I've been following these threads and finally took the plunge and bought an Instantpot. I used it for the first time yesterday and made these rids. Boneless ribs. They were delicious! I did cook an extra 5 minutes as they weren't tender at the end of 15.

Congratulations on your new Instant Pots, Rainy_Day_Woman and pivibird! Welcome to the quick cooking side! You will love them. Tonight I made breaded pork chops in my Air Fryer and Southern Green Beans in my Instant Pot. The green beans were melt in your mouth tender and they have bacon in them, so, well, you know, no leftovers. I made my weekly Instant pot of yogurt yesterday - so easy!

What is an Instant Pot? Is it a pressure cooker or something more? I do have a pressure cooker already. Actually two. But I'm curious about the Instant Pot. Thanks!

The Instant Pot is just a brand of electric pressure cooker that also has a yogurt cycle. It also has a huge following, complete with cookbooks geared towards it.
