Tried the first episode and was very disappointed. I'd love any excuse to listen to Sam Elliot talk, but I just can't take that show. The laugh track, Ashton Kutcher, much of the writing, etc. I know first episodes are always iffy until the cast gets comfy and finds their groove, so I made myself watch one or two more episodes. I just can't do it. Ashton Kutcher is a terrible actor. He was great as Kelso, but after giving him a few tries in other things, I have come to believe that's because he's a real-life Kelso, and he just got very, very lucky with that role. Well, except the first sentence because I haven't tried the show. My love of Sam Elliott isn't enough to make me watch Ashton Kutcher. I agree 100% with what you said about him. I was hoping to read something in this thread that would make me give The Ranch a try, but got as far as laugh track and that reinforced it isn't for me.

Well, guess I'm in the minority...I happen to love Ashton Kutcher! And I love Sam Elliott as well. So I watched it. I thought it would be a drama too, because of Sam E. But it isn't. The story lines are a bit strange. But I don't feel I wasted my time watching it. It was good for mindless entertainment. And to see Sam Elliott in his skivies?!?! Hell yeah!!!

First I want to say Sam Elliott is my old man crush... lol Anyways, I knew nothing about this series.. saw it as a promotion on Netflix a couple of days ago.. the only things that stood out to me was it was about cowboys and Sam Elliott was in it. I figured it was a drama...... well it's not really.. and I really don't know what to think..... I think I went in thinking it was going to be a good drama series (something like SE cowboy movies) but it wasn't. Anyone else?? I watched a few episodes I love Sam Elliott and I like Ashton! I thought it was awful. Terrible acting and just not funny.

Yes, we are watching it. The drunken washed up football player story gets old but we think Ashton does a much better job in this show than he did on 2 1/2 Men. There are several 1 liners that are hilarious & Sam Elliott delivers the dry sense of humor really well. His character is a lot like hubby's LOL . We have noticed that sometimes the laugh tracks are annoying as they overshadow some of the dialogue.
Can't watch it when the grandkids are around, they're a bit young for some of the language. We are enjoying it for what it is.

I tried the first episode but didn't make it all the way through. Just not what I was expecting. Everyone was stiff etc. Granted first episodes are usually pretty uncomfortable lol but this was more than that. ITA! I can watch a lot of crappy TV, but did not make it through the whole episode of this one! So so bad.
